Nathan “Nate” Drake
“Professional Treasure Hunter” is a nice, sanitized way to describe Nate’s lifelong calling. Some would include the job title “Thief” in the résumé too. But as Uncharted 4 opens, that’s all in the past. Nathan Drake is now a respectable employee of Jameson Marine, a New Orleans-based salvage firm. He has a wife, a house, a gas grill on the back porch, a legit job—a normal life. But then a lost piece of his past walks through the office door…and in that instant, everything changes again.
Elena Fisher
A renowned journalist, documentary filmmaker, and all-around tough cookie, Elena Fisher has joined her husband Nate in pursuing less dangerous, more legal lines of work. She’s still a travel writer, but her travels are far tamer: no more war criminals, mutants, Indonesian pirates, flesh-eating spiders…things like that. And Nathan’s new promise to Elena is the basis for their new life: no more shady sojourns, no more death defying junkets to lost cities. God forbid he should break that promise…without telling her, anyway.
Samuel “Sam” Drake
Sam and Nathan Drake grew up together in the cozy confines of the Saint Francis Home for Boys, a Catholic orphanage in Boston. Adversity drew them close. Nate’s elder by five years, Sam eventually struck out on his own, but it wasn’t long before he returned for his younger brother. Today, the siblings are different in many ways. Victor “Sully” Sullivan
Sully may be a treasure hunter, con man, and thief, but he’s also a hell of a guy, particularly when it comes to mentoring a former scrawny teenaged runaway who calls himself Nathan Drake. Yes, they’ve been business partners in some sketchy ventures. But Sully has also served ably as Nate’s father figure and even a sort of moral touchstone for decades now. Rafe Adler
Inheriting vast wealth may not be good for building one’s moral character, but it makes a lot of things a lot easier. Rafe Adler, son of a billionaire, has unlimited funds available to finance his own treasure-hunting activities. Once a partner of the Drake brothers in a venture that led them to a notorious Panamanian prison, Rafe now works with a South African “security company” (read: “mercenary army”) owned and operated by a woman named Nadine Ross.
Nadine Ross
Nadine is a stone cold badass. Put her in a deathmatch cage with any two men and she’ll walk out smiling, most likely with a little of their blood on her teeth. Her private mercenary army, Shoreline, is an impressive collection of ruthless, highly trained military castoffs armed to the hilt with high-dollar weaponry and equipment. Nadine may be Rafe Adler’s partner, but she has a keen sense of who’s up, who’s down, and who knows where to look. She’s tangled with Victor Sullivan in past encounters, but it’s all business, nothing personal. She’s fierce, but Nadine doesn’t hold a grudge.
