Mafia III eGuide Story Missions

FRENCH WARD: Real Nice Time

Mission: “Kill “Uncle” Lou Marcano”

Talk to Donovan About Uncle Lou

Prerequisite: Complete “Kill the Judge”

Activate this objective and follow the trip route to Donovan’s van (1) parked just off the road down in the Bayou Fantom. Enter via the driver’s side door.

This triggers a series of cutscenes: The Senate hearing mulls over the aftermath of the Judge Holden murder, and the Marcano brothers discuss their next move. Looks like your next destination is a riverboat.

Reach the Coal Dumper

Now you take control of Donovan’s van. Listen to the conversation as you follow the new trip route. Donovan explains that Uncle Lou always sails the same course with his riverboat, the Delphine. Lou’s boat will pass an old coal dumper where Donovan has planted explosives; Lincoln needs to connect a detonator to each C-4 block. When you arrive at the coal dumper site (2), exit the van and climb the ladder up the railcar to get past the gate.

Connect the Primer Cords

Before you wire the explosives, wiretap the Junction Box (circled in our long shot) on the platform for enhanced intel. Then use Intel View to help find each of the four C-4 blocks where you must connect the primer cords.

Wiretap the Junction Box on the coal dumper before you detonate the explosives.

You can also see three hostile bayou rednecks posted at the far end of the dumper platform—two guys fishing, and another working the barbecue grill. If you want to work uninterrupted, you can take them out.

Two C-4 blocks are planted down low on the platform floor—one on a support strut, the other on a big gear housing.

The other two C-4 blocks are located up the ramp on the upper platform.

Detonate the C-4

When all four blocks are wired, follow the objective marker (or follow the wiring) to the control hut. Pry open the locked door, go through the hut to the back porch, and flip the detonator switch.

Sit back and enjoy the show as the Delphine takes a broadside hit from the coal dumper’s falling superstructure. Uncle Lou tries to direct State Senator Jacobs upstairs to safety. Then he deploys his men throughout the boat, suspecting more than an accident.

Get to Uncle Lou

Uncle Lou and Jacobs are on the Delphine’s top level, so you need to work your way up. Run to the end of the dock, dive into the bayou, and swim to the ladder (circled in our shot) in the middle of the boat.

Get to the Second Deck

Climb aboard the Delphine and step through the doorway on your right. The engine room is directly ahead, but it’s a dead end. Instead, turn hard left and go straight through two open doors across to the opposite side of the boat. Turn left through the next door and follow the long passage along the gunwale until you see passengers fleeing out an open door ahead and jumping into the bayou. That leads into the riverboat’s big casino room.

Before you enter the casino, take a quick Intel View to see that a large squad of Lou’s men are posted inside. Fight your way through the gaming tables to the wide staircase on the far side and climb up to the next deck. Immediately dive for cover behind the bar at the top, because more gunmen deploy up ahead.

Get to the Third Deck

Fight through the lounge area out onto the stern (rear)—you can see the boat’s big paddlewheels spinning. Now head around the corner to your left and fight your way up the long walkway. At the far end, climb the stairs to the third deck. When you get there, an explosion rips through the windows to your right!

Keep moving forward to the big bar out on the bow (forward) area where another large squad of Uncle Lou’s goons wait for you. Clear them out, then enter the doorway that leads back inside into a library. Keep pushing through rooms (including one with a scale model of the riverboat) until you reach another staircase leading up. At the top, turn left and proceed through three more doorways until you find a staircase going back down a level.

Get through the Dining Room

Head down the stairs and follow the passage until you spot Uncle Lou and Senator Jacobs. Run to the doors and kick them open! Your targets flee through the dining room ahead. As you open the next door and follow them, another large squad of mafia killers arrives. Clear out the gunmen, climb the ladder at the back of the dining room, and approach the door hatch.

Open the hatch to trigger a scene: Lincoln finally has Uncle Lou and the Senator at gunpoint. Lou tries to take Jacobs hostage, but Lincoln doesn’t care about the politician. Suddenly, an engine room explosion engulfs everyone!

Confront Uncle Lou

Lincoln ends up groggy on the ground (3), next to the burning riverboat, with only his Combat Knife as a weapon. Up ahead, Uncle Lou, still packing his pistol, staggers away through the forest.

Follow Lou. Lincoln is injured so you can’t move fast, but Lou is worse off and his shots are wild and inaccurate. Just keep following Uncle Lou relentlessly until you catch him. This triggers a series of chapter-ending cutscenes: Lincoln uses Uncle Lou to “send a message” to Sal Marcano.

Assign the French Ward to an Underboss

Once Lou Marcano is dead, the game cuts to another sitdown meeting at the abandoned bayou mansion. Assign the French Ward district to Burke, Vito, or Cassandra. If you’ve steadfastly ignored one or more of your Lieutenants, they may rebel at this point. Check out the section on “The Betrayal Missions” in our Optional & Other Missions chapter.
