Mafia III eGuide Basics

Defeating The Mob: How This Will Go Down

New Bordeaux is the most corrupt place in America and it’s teaming with Mafia Rackets, ranging from prostitution and gambling rings to drugs and human trafficking. Your job is to take over each racket. The best way to do this is to cripple each racket financially. Tear them down bit by bit before seizing the criminal enterprise for yourself.

Each racket is made up of several Targets of Opportunity, which can consist of supply caches, money stashes, or mobsters driving around the city. Destroy or capture as many as you can to downgrade the targeted enterprise to ruin; once its value hits $0, you can assassinate the leader or recruit them. Seizing every racket in a district will grant you total control over that area.

Your Allies

Underbosses

Lincoln is going to need assistance to take over New Bordeaux’s criminal empire. Three Underbosses are here to help. Lincoln can assign one of his three Underbosses to manage and secure the newly captured rackets and districts.

Each Underboss gains income as they’re assigned new territory—and as their wealth grows, so too will their loyalty toward you. Since each assignment favors one Lieutenant at the expense of the other two, choose wisely: your decisions will inevitably ruffle some feathers.

Cassandra

She’s the leader of the Haitian gang and Lincoln’s first major ally in New Bordeaux.

Vito Scaletta

This former Empire Bay Mafioso was the protagonist of Mafia II. Now, as a resident of New Bordeaux, he operates out of an Italian restaurant.

Thomas Burke

Leader of the Irish Mob, this gangster has his own axe to grind with the Italians.

Lieutenants

Each Underboss has a Lieutenant working for them.

Emmanuel Lazare

He manages the Haitian drug ring and is utterly devoted to his boss, Cassandra.

Alma Diaz

Saddled with unfinished business back in Cuba, Alma is confident that Vito can help her see things through

Nicki Burke

Nicki wants nothing more than to leave New Bordeaux, and Burke is her ticket out.

Associates

The more territory your Underbosses control, the more Associates they can recruit to your cause. Some of these associates can provide special services—for a fee (or, if you’ve earned a Marker, use it for payment). For each assignment you make, consider which Underboss will offer the most useful Associates.

To access these Associates, hold LB or L1 to open the Weapon Wheel. These Associates will arrive (or take effect) within seconds. For more information on associates, see the “Associates’ Services” section also in the Basics.

Mafia Racket Structure: The Enemy

The Mafia’s army of foot soldiers consists of several different roles. Lincoln should keep each one in mind when approaching combat situations.

Heavy

Carries a shotgun and can take a lot of punishment before going down

Marksman

Uses a sniper rifle to keep you at a distance

Gunner

Mid-range shooter who prefers automatic weapons.

Triggerman

Uses small arms and explosives to flush the player from cover.

Sentry

Sentries are cunning criminals who call for reinforcements once they see you. When attacking a group of enemies, watch out for their Sentries. Sentries call in enemy reinforcements who will respond with lethal force. To stop Sentries from calling in reinforcements, neutralize them before they reach the nearest phone or disable the phones using your Operator Associate feature. When the area you’re fighting in is wiretapped, Sentries are called out using Intel View
