Fallout 76 eGuide Quests

Other Quests

There are other quests besides the ones listed in the previous chapters, but they are less structured and inconsistent than those quests. Read on to learn about all the other wild and weird events that you can expect to encounter a time or two in Appalachia.

Random Encounters

While exploring Appalachia, you’ll encounter strange characters and happenings entirely at random. Most of these encounters are either good for a laugh or a small stash of items, but some of them warn of dangers ahead. Keep your eyes peeled for odd events (especially the traveling Super Mutant merchant Grahm and his “Moo Moo” Chally), and listen to any strange NPCs you happen upon.

Enemy Hordes

Every now and then, a horde of a particular enemy type will appear somewhere on the map. You can avoid them, but if you’re sporting for a fight and decide to dive in and challenge their numbers, there are some things you need to know. Namely, hordes always have a leader, which will be marked on the map after encountering the horde. So long as that leader lives, the horde will continue to restore its members regardless of how many of them you kill.

Supply Drops

Vertibots will occasional swoop in and drop off a box of supplies before taking to the sky again. Any players in the region will receive a Miscellaneous Quest pointing them in the direction of the box. The supplies inside are well worth the journey, so head for the drops when you want to stock up!

Workshop Defense

Capturing a workshop is relatively effortless, but hanging on to it is a different story. Aside from having to deal with hostile players trying to steal workshops from you, you’ll occasionally have to fend off waves of attacks by the local wildlife.

Attacks like these will come at regular intervals, so if you’re willing to hunker down and protect your workshop, they are a great way to gather loot and Plans. Set up some turrets in high, safe places and carefully place traps around the area and you’ll hardly have to lift a finger.

Competitive Multiplayer

While most other Vault Dwellers you encounter in Appalachia will be civil (or evasive), things don’t always have to be hunky dory. If you’re looking to throw down the gauntlet and challenge other players to games of skill and speed, check out each of these quests.

Hunter Hunted

Bring up your Pip-Boy and turn to the Radio tab to find the Hunter Hunted radio station. If you and at least three other players are listening to that station, you’ll initiate Hunter Hunted: a game where you are both hunter and prey. Kill your target and avoid getting killed by the other player targeting you to win.

Monster Mash

Details

Battle with up to six other players to wrangle candy and complete a slew of objectives in Watoga High.

The Battle That Never Was

Details

Partake in a faux historic battle between the Union and the Confederates at an old Civil War–era fort. The team with the most kills (including robot kills) is the winner.

Miscellaneous Quests

While exploring Appalachia, you’ll discover Miscellaneous Quests—nameless quests that are added to your quest log automatically. Most of these will simply lead to a small collection of loot, but others will lead into new, more expansive quests. There are dozens of Miscellaneous Quests scattered around Appalachia and more being added all the time. This isn’t all of them, but it’s enough to let you know what to expect when you bump into one. Explore every area extensively and you’re bound to find even more!
