Once you defeat the enemy Yo-kai, the Results screen displays. All six of the Yo-kai in your active party are awarded the same amount of experience. Yo-kai in the rear line earn EXP even if they didn’t join the battle at all! Any Yo-kai knocked out of battle after their HP hit zero are revived to 1 HP and rewarded with the same amount of EXP as everyone else.
In addition to EXP and money, you may also be rewarded with up to three items. If you’re lucky, you might even earn a rare item!
Making New Friends
After you’re done in the Results screen, there’s a chance that one of the defeated Yo-kai will get back up and ask to befriend you. If you fought a team of three Yo-kai, the one making the request will be selected at random, regardless of which one you defeated first. Only one Yo-kai can ask to join you per battle.
Remember: You’ll have an easier time making friends if you give foes their favorite food during battle.
You’re free to refuse the request, of course. Which will it be?
Leveling Up Skills
After deploying attacks, Techniques, and Soultimates in battle, your Yo-kai team may see their skill levels for these moves go up in the Results screen. When skill levels go up, damage inflicted on enemies increases! The highest skill level for each type of move is 10.
Unlike regular EXP-based character leveling, skill levels never go up unless a Yo-kai actually engages in the fight. If you want to boost a Yo-kai’s skill level, don’t leave it in the rear line. Bring it out front, and let it go crazy in battle!
What If You Lose?
If all of your Yo-kai in possession are knocked out, guess what? You lose. You’ll restart the game with all Yo-kai at the same HP and Soul Meter level as before the battle. Also, if you’re in a building, you’ll be taken back to the entrance. Otherwise, there’s no particular penalty.
