Simply leveling up your Yo-kai allies won’t always produce the strongest Yo-kai teams available. In some cases you can evolve or fuse Yo-kai to create new, more powerful beings (found Yo-kai will always be weaker than Fused Yo-kai). A total of 43 Yo-kai can be generated in this fashion. The following section introduces them all, so find the ones that best fit your needs.
Evolution
Fifteen special Yo-kai in the game can “evolve”—that is, they can transform themselves into more powerful versions with new names. Yo-kai capable of evolution can do so when they reach a required level. This level varies from Yo-kai to Yo-kai. The earliest is D’wanna, who can evolve at level 15; the latest are Komason and Komajiro, who can evolve at level 35. Typically, the later a Yo-kai is able to evolve, the more powerful its evolved form will be.
Note that evolution is not automatic. You make the choice.
Evolvable Yo-kai can do so once they’ve reached their designated evolution level. It doesn’t matter whether they leveled up via battle or by using Exporbs.
You can choose to cancel the evolution, if you want. If you cancel, you’ll get another chance to evolve the Yo-kai when it reaches its next level.

Fusion
The other way to create new, more powerful Yo-kai is to visit Mr. Zen at the Shoten Temple. There, he can either fuse two Yo-kai or fuse a Yo-kai with an item. There is no level limit in either case. Once you’ve finished combining items or Yo-kai, the recipe is recorded.
Fusing Two Yo-kai
A total of 12 new Yo-kai can be created by fusing two “source” Yo-Kai. If you decide to fuse two source Yo-kai, the resulting entity combines the traits of its progenitors. Note that three Yo-kai created by this process—Castelius II, Castelius I, and Multimutt—are formed by combining two copies of the same source Yo-kai.
| Source Yo-kai | Source Yo-kai | Fused Yo-kai |
|---|---|---|
| Helmsman | Armsman | Reuknight |
| Tattletell | Lafalotta | Tattlecast |
| Dulluma | Mochismo | Darumacho |

| Manjimutt | Manjimutt | Multimutt |
| Enerfly | Enefly | Betterfly |
| Happierre | Dismarelda | Reversa |

Fusing a Yo-kai with an Item
Sixteen rare Yo-kai can be created if you fuse a specific Yo-kai with a special item. For example: Combine the Yo-kai named Chansin with the Legendary Blade to create the powerful Sheen!
| Source Yo-kai | Source Item | Fused Yo-kai |
|---|---|---|
| Castelius I | Platinum Bar | Castelius Max |
| Chansin | Legendary Blade | Sheen |
| Chansin | Cursed Blade | Snee |
| Chansin | Holy Blade | Gleam |

| Noko | Drop of Joy | Bloominoko |
| Draggie | Dragon Orb | Dragon Lord |
Post-Fusion Yo-kai Levels
The level of any newly fused Yo-kai is based on the levels of its source Yo-kai. Here are the simple formulas:
When Fusing Two Yo-Kai
Level of Fused Yo-kai = Sum of the levels of the two source Yo-kai divided by 2
When Fusing Yo-Kai with Item
Level of Fused Yo-kai = Same as source Yo-kai
Fusing Two Items
Mr. Zen can also fuse two items to conjure up a new piece of equipment. The Venoct Gauntlet and Heavenly Sash are two rare and powerful pieces of equipment available only through this fusion process.

|---|---|---|
| Holy Water | Dingy Scale | Ancient Scale |
