The most typical way to power up your Yo-kai friends is to put them in battle and raise their levels. But that’s not the only way to improve your Yo-kai. You can also boost their powers by evolving or fusing them. Both processes change how a Yo-kai looks, producing a more formidable presence than ever!
Some Yo-kai can be obtained only via evolution or fusion. They’re amongst the rarest and most powerful ones out there!
How Yo-kai Evolve
Yo-kai that can evolve will do so immediately once they reach the required level. You can also cancel the evolution if you like, leaving the Yo-kai as is.
If a Yo-kai can evolve, it automatically makes the transformation once it hits a certain level. The exact level number required for evolution depends on the type of Yo-kai it is. Some Yo-kai evolve early on, while others need to be leveled up fairly high before they do.
How Yo-kai Fusion Works
Once you reach Chapter 5 of the game story, you’ll be able to combine Yo-kai and items in a process called “fusion.” You can fuse Yo-kai with each other or with certain items to create a brand-new, powered-up being. This new Yo-kai immediately becomes your friend. (For more details on the fusion process, check out the “Evolution and Fusion” section.)
