Forming Yo-kai Teams

No matter the kind of team you decide to make, pay close attention to how effectively it is able to progress through the increasingly difficult challenges. Choose Yo-kai that fit into the team type.

To create an effective team, you must first figure out how they fight together and their tactics. Once you have this tactical make-up, select the six Yo-kai that fit this scheme. If you simply choose the six strongest Yo-kai, you’ll often find that they don’t fight well together. One trick to make this process easier is to imagine making two teams of three.

Attack

For an Attack or Technique duel, you want Yo-kai that either hit often or hit hard.

Defense

Use Yo-kai with heavy defense to work as a shield, to be the tank, though you do need the enemy to focus their attacks on these shields.

Main Defense Yo-kai

Inspirit

The last tactic involves inspiriting the enemy and gradually driving them into the corner. This tactic also boosts your allies’ abilities.

Use formations to boost your team’s power

Placing Yo-kai of the same Tribe next to each other boosts the abilities of the Yo-kai. Attempt to utilize this game element when building a formidable team. For example, use Brave Yo-kai for an attack-oriented team, or Tough Yo-kai for defense.

Formations with lines of three are more effective than those with lines of two. Try to get three Yo-kai on the same line.

Restoring HP is very important

It is also important to figure out a way to recover from the damage your enemies inflict on you. Always try to include a restorative Yo-kai. In times like these, you’ll want to have a generous supply of expensive food for your restorative needs.

If you have a lot of Marbled Beef or high quality Tuna, you’ll have little problem restoring HP.

Use your skills effectively

Skills are paramount to the creation of a strong team. A lot of skills boost only the user’s stats, but there are also skills that boost those of the entire team. Just having one Yo-kai capable of such skills is enough to push your team’s strength to never before seen heights! Master them, and you’ll be happy you did!

These three skills can be used effectively even if the Yo-kai using them is on the rear line. It definitely doesn’t hurt to include them!

You’ll be happy you had this skill at your disposable when you find yourself without a restorative Yo-kai Technique.

Eliminates waste in battle, while only effecting allies.

This skill is valuable to pretty much any team but is especially recommended for defense-o riented teams.

Trio of Attack-Oriented Brave Yo-kaiBoost Your Attack Power!

Brave Yo-kai are typically not slouches when it comes to attacking. First of all, a three Yo-kai formation of Brave Yo-kai will provide boosts to all of their power! Benkei’s attack power will increase when it defeats an enemy, while Blazion’s will increase when an ally falls in battle. In either case, you’re guaranteed a boost in power.

Defense & Inspirit TrioMad Mountain will Protect You!

Use Cupistol’s Popularize on a Yo-kai with a lot of defense like Mad Mountain to nullify enemy attacks! Tattlecast and Cupistol can also use restorative Yo-kai Techniques. That means that they can quickly restore any of the HP Mad Mountain loses to enemy attacks! Use the Ultra Sumo Stomp Soultimate move to boost defenses even further.

Skillful TrioAlpha and Omega Trick!

Combining Komasan and its Alpha skill with Komajiro and its Omega skill will greatly boost both of their abilities! On top of that, you can invoke the speed-boosting Charming formation to attack at a furious pace!
