Terror Time

At some point, you inevitably trigger a bout of Terror Time. This scary interlude lingers until you find your way to the exit door marked on your map. One upside of Terror Time is that you can pick up valuable items from chests as you evade the wrath of the Oni during your escape. But there’s another: if you can manage to defeat an Oni, the rewards are significant.

Yes, the Oni are powerful, frightening creatures. But if you’ve trained a strong corps of Yo-kai allies and you’re confident in your abilities, you might just have a chance.

How Strong Are the Oni?

The Oni come in three levels. Defeat a regular Gargaros, and you’ll be faced with a beefed up Ogralus during the next Terror Time. Manage to beat that Ogralus, you’ll face an Orcanos the time after that. The strength of the powerful Orcanos looks off the charts! And yet, it can be beaten. Doing so may yield ultra-luxurious rewards.

Chest Placement

The chest distribution during Terror Time is random, but the number of chests that appears is fixed per area. If you’re not interested in getting each and every chest, you might find that you have an easier time in areas with a lot of them.

Chest Contents

The quality of the stuff you can find in Terror Time chests improves dramatically once you’ve completed the main story. If you’re grabbing chests, the Epilogue is the best time to do it. Check out the list of goods you can find then.
