Leveling up isn’t the only way to improve your Yo-kai. Special items can enhance Yo-kai abilities, sometimes significantly.
Use Books to Match Abilities and Attitude
No matter how many amazing abilities your Yo-kai possesses, it will never reach its true potential until those abilities and its personality (shown in its stats display as ATTD, or Attitude) are in line with one another. Each Yo-kai type and its recommended personality are shown in the table on the right. Use books to change the attitude readout of your Yo-kai as soon as you can.
Choose the personality that has the highest likelihood of unleashing your best attacks!

Dedicated Equipment
Amongst the items available to equip in the game are certain ones that can only be equipped by certain Yo-kai. This “dedicated equipment” tends to have an extraordinarily positive impact on the Yo-kai’s stats.
