Briefing

  • Objectives: Somali pirates have captured an American ship captain and are holding him hostage in a lifeboat. The boat is located off the stern of the USS Bainbridge. You play as “Stump” and are one of the snipers who must put their sharpshooting skills to the test in order to rescue the captain safely.

Story

An escalating situation has TF Mako called back to the USS Bainbridge. Pirates have taken the captain of a merchant vessel hostage and are threatening his execution if a ransom isn’t paid. Mako sets up a sniping position on the fantail and waits for the opportunity to take out the pirates with coordinated fire.

Preacher is now fully healed and along with Mother and a local asset named Ajab, they seek a Pakistani arms dealer known as Faraz Iqbal Khan. The mission: find him, find out what he knows and get out of the country.

Rescue the Captain

The mission begins with you lying prone on the deck of the USS Bainbridge watching the lifeboat. You are armed with a sniper rifle equipped with a scope. Look through the scope and take a look at your targets.

There are three pirates in the lifeboat along with the captain. This is a tough situation. If anyone fires on the pirates, they will kill the captain. Therefore, you and the other two snipers must all fire at the same time to simultaneously kill all the pirates in order to protect the captain.

One of the pirates is in the bow of the lifeboat and occasionally pops up to look out of a hatch on the lifeboat.

The second pirate stands guard at the rear of the lifeboat, looking out through the windows for trouble approaching the lifeboat. The third pirate is usually down out of view with the captain. Take time to study the actions of the pirates. However, don’t fire. After a while, your shift is over and you are relieved by another team of snipers.

When you return to the deck of the USS Bainbridge 18 hours later, there is a new plan. A flare will be launched over the lifeboat. Then when the three pirates all look to see what is taking place, your team of snipers take their shots. You are assigned to target the pirate on the left behind the windows. The other two snipers will fire on your shot. Wait until you hear “Clear Shot” and then “Execute”. Then press the button to hold your breath, line up your sights, and take the shot. Be careful not to hit the captain.

After each sniper has taken his shot and all pirates are down, two teams of operators rush across to the lifeboat in Zodiacs, secure the boat, and ensure the captain is safe before bringing him back to the USS Bainbridge.

Another successful mission. However, it won’t be the last.
