Medal of Honor: Warfighter eGuide Multiplayer Multiplayer Bootcamp

Assaulter

Assaulter

A medium-speed operator who holds a secondary grenade launcher. Useful for multiple kills when enemies are clustered together.

Performance

  • Sidearm: SIG Sauer P226
  • Grenade: M67 Frag

Support Actions

Level Points Req. Offensive Defensive
1 400 60mm Mortar Smoke Screen
2 900 Guided Missile Fireteam Replenish
3 1,500 Cluster Bomb RQ-7 Shadow
4 2,300 Apache Pilot Apache Pilot

The assaulter is the most versatile of the classes, offering a great balance of speed, durability, and firepower. This is the first and only class available when starting your multiplayer career, meaning you’ll need to master the assaulter before trying the other five classes. The assault rifles associated with this class are all lethal instruments, capable of dropping opponents with only a few hits. But these are long rifles, best suited for deployment in environments where there are long sight lines. While assault rifles are capable of operating in close quarters, they are rather cumbersome when compared to the smaller SMGs carried by the spec ops class. Consider switching to your pistol when operating in tight quarters for greater mobility and faster target acquisition. By default, all assault rifles are set to automatic fire, but they can be switched to semi-automatic when precision shooting takes priority over rate of fire.

Class Ability: 40mm Grenade Launcher

The grenade launcher ability is not immediately available to the assaulter—it is unlocked at the Private 2 rank, earned early on. Just play multiplayer for a few minutes and you’ll have a grenade launcher to play around with. Once unlocked, the assaulter can be equipped with two different types of grenade launchers. One is the M79 grenade launcher, which is an entirely separate weapons system. But some of the assault rifles can also be fitted with an under-barrel grenade launcher like the M320. In any case, the grenade launchers function the same way. Grenades fired from these launchers explode on impact and can destroy light cover including wood fences, trees, and some stone walls. By raising the barrel you can launch these munitions impressive distances, especially if you’re standing on a hill. Use the horizontal lines on the HUD to adjust your aim, raising the barrel to engage distant targets or lowering the barrel to for a more direct firing arc. Grenades have a high splash damage and can kill or injure opponents within a modest blast radius.

Unique Support Actions

60mm Mortar

Support Action Points: 400

This is the first of four offensive support actions available to the assaulter, and it’s always a good choice, particularly if you’ve spotted a large cluster of enemy troops. Before you activate the support action, find a relatively safe area with a clear view of your intended target area. Once activated, your soldier raises a pair of binoculars that you must use to call in the mortar strike. Place the aiming reticle directly over the target area, preferably targeting the ground instead of a wall or rooftop. Within seconds highly explosive mortar rounds rain down on the target area, killing any opponents within the wide blast radius. These strikes are best focused on choke points, such as narrow areas like alleys and stairways where opponents tend to bunch up.

Guided Missile

Support Action Points: 800

Of all the support actions, this is one of the most fun to activate, giving you direct control of an incoming missile. Before you can take control of the missile, you must first laser designate a target area. As with the 60mm Mortar, try to identify large groups of opponents before taking aim. Once you’ve designated your target, the HUD changes to a camera fitted onto the tip of the missile. At this point you can aim the missile by steering it toward opponents scurrying about on the ground. But the missile moves fast, plummeting to the earth at high speed, giving you little time to make minor adjustments. This is why it’s so important to mark your target area carefully with the laser designator. If you score a direct hit on a cluster of enemies, you can expect to rack up multiple kills, putting you well on the way toward your next support action.

Cluster Bomb

Support Action Points: 1,500

In critical situations, assaulter soldiers can call in A-10s loaded with Cluster Bomb munitions. The ordinance can quickly cover large areas with devastating results. Initiating a Cluster Bomb strike is much like calling in the 60mm Mortar support action. Upon activation, you’re prompted to select a target area using a binocular-like laser designator. Once you’ve set the target area, you must choose the approach vector for the incoming air strike as indicated by the green conical icon in the center of the sight. Setting the approach vector can help spread the incoming munitions over a wide area. While Cluster Bombs are spread over a wide target area, still try to focus these attacks on narrow choke points where multiple opponents are gathered. Also, don’t bother targeting buildings with these bombs. Unfortunately, the air strike will have no impact on opponents hiding in buildings with solid rooftops.
