Australian SAS-R

Special Air Service Regiment (SAS-R) is a special forces unit of the Australian Army. While it is modeled on the British SAS, with which it shares the motto “Who Dares Wins”, the regiment also draws on the experience of World War II Australian special reconnaissance and commando units, particularly Z Special Unit (Z Force/SRD).

British SAS

Special Air Service (SAS) is a corps of the British Army constituted on May 31, 1950. They are part of the United Kingdom Special Forces (UKSF) and have served as a model for the special forces of many other countries all over the world.

Canadian JTF2

Joint Task Force 2 (JTF2) is an elite special operations force of the Canadian Forces primarily tasked with counter-terrorism operations. JTF2 is part of the operational elements of the Canadian Special Operations Forces Command.

German KSK

Kommando Spezialkräfte (KSK) is an elite military unit composed of Special Operations soldiers from the ranks of Germany’s Bundeswehr and organized as such under the Division Spezielle Operationen (Special Operations Division, DSO).

Norway FSK/HJK

Hærens Jegerkommando (FSK/HJK) is a special forces unit of the Norwegian military. It is the armed forces competence center for commando, airborne, and counter-terrorist duty in the Norwegian Army.

Polish GROM

GROM (Grupa Reagowania Operacyjno-Manewrowego) is one of five special forces units of the Polish Armed Forces. It was officially activated on July 8, 1990. It is deployed in a variety of special operations and unconventional warfare roles, including anti-terrorist actions and projection of power behind enemy lines.

ROKN UDT/SEAL

Naval Special Warfare Brigade (UDT) is a special warfare unit of the Republic of Korea Navy. The UDT are heavily influenced by the United States Navy SEALs, and maintain a strong relationship by regularly undertaking joint cross-training (JCET) several times a year.

Russian Spetsgruppa Alfa

GRUPPA ALFA is an elite, stand-alone component of Russia’s special forces and the dedicated counter-terrorism task force of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB), with an emphasis on hostage rescue and counter-terrorism operations.

Swedish SOG

Särskilda Skyddsgruppen (SOG) is a special operations unit of the Swedish military, which became active in 1994. The exact number of operatives is classified, but is thought to be between 60 and 80, with an average age of 31.

U.S. OGA

Other Government Agency (OGA) is the operational arm of the Intelligence Community. These agencies often recruit persons from various special operations units in the United States military and therefore have a diverse set of backgrounds and skills.

U.S. Army SFOD-D

SFOD-D is one of the United States’ secretive Tier 1 counter-terrorism and Special Mission Units. Commonly known as The Unit, it was formed under the designation 1st SFOD-D, and has been involved in every U.S. ground operation since its inception.

U.S. Navy SEALs

The United States Navy’s Sea, Air, and Land Teams, commonly known as Navy SEALs, are the U.S. Navy’s principal special operations force and a part of the Naval Special Warfare Command (NSWC) as well as the maritime component of the United States Special Operations Command.
