Sniper
Long-range accuracy and a fully-automatic sidearm compliment the real threat posed by this operator. While in a supported stance, a long-range directional minimap leads the sniper to targets, with voice ISR correction and overhead icons.

Armed with a high-powered rifle, the sniper is the master of long-range combat. But this is a role that’s difficult to fill, particularly given the compact size of the maps and lack of long sight lines. It’s important to learn the maps and find those spots especially designed for this class—study the maps in the next section to find the key sight lines. Snipers must rely on their fireteam buddies to provide rear security while lining up those perfect shots. When possible, always drop prone before taking a shot to improve your accuracy. Don’t forget to hold your breath to stabilize the scope view before taking a shot—you can hold your breath by clicking down on the left control stick or by holding down the SHIFT key. Deploying the rifle’s bipod is another way to stabilize the weapon, negating the need to hold your breath. Sniper rifles are long and cumbersome, making them practically worthless for close-quarters engagements. Fortunately the sniper is also equipped with a fully automatic G18 pistol. Always equip this pistol when moving around the map—it’s a true beast in close-quarters firefights! Instead of standard grenades, the sniper is equipped with two proximity mines. Place these in narrow choke points or other high-traffic areas to score some sneaky kills. The proximity mines are also useful for covering your flanks when sniping. For example, when sniping from a second-story window, place a proximity mine on the staircase to cover your back.
Class Ability: Support Stance
Like the heavy gunner’s LMGs, all sniper rifles are equipped with a bipod that can be deployed to stabilize the weapon. Bipods can be deployed while prone or when crouched behind low cover, but pick your position carefully before deploying the bipod and make sure your fireteam buddy stays nearby to guard you. You’re extremely vulnerable while in the support stance, making it easy for opponents to take you out with their tomahawks. If you don’t have a fireteam buddy, or if they’re off doing their own thing, deploy a proximity mine behind you or on your flanks to ward off attackers. While the bipod is deployed, the sniper benefits from a special minimap. As the sniper sees opponents, these targets are called out and shown on the minimap as well as the minimaps of all teammates. In this sense, the sniper can serve as a spotter, directing teammates toward known enemy locations. When zooming in with the rifle’s scope view, the weapon is completely stable, making it easy to line up lethal headshots without needing to hold your breath.
Unique Support Actions
Switchblade
Support Action Points: 400
The Switchblade performs like a miniature cruise missile, allowing the sniper to scan the map for potential targets before initiating a devastating dive-bomb attack. When equipped, the UAV-like device is prepped for launch. You must find a relatively open area to launch the Switchblade, with minimal overhead cover. A small rocket launches the Switchblade into the air, at which point your HUD is replaced with a camera view looking down at the map. The Switchblade travels in a straight line from the moment it’s launched, so it’s a good idea to deploy it from the perimeter of the map and aimed toward the general direction of enemy troops—when possible, launch it toward the opposing team’s spawn point. The camera view allows you to see enemy troops scurrying about the map, indicated by red icons. Try to find a group of opponents before initiating the dive-bomb attack. At this point you have direct control of the Switchblade, much like the assaulter’s Guided Missile. Guide the Switchblade into a large group of opponents to score multiple kills. If you don’t initiate the dive-bomb sequence, the Switchblade will continue flying in a straight line, directly off the map.
81mm Mortar
Support Action Points: 800
This support action functions identically to the 60mm Mortar offered by the assaulter class. Using a pair of binoculars you must designate the target area, after which mortar rounds begin falling. The 81mm rounds have a slightly larger blast radius than those of the 60mm rounds, spreading the shrapnel and destruction over a wider area. As usual, target areas where opponents have been located, such as objectives or narrow choke points. Avoid targeting areas close to buildings as many of the mortar rounds will strike rooftops, inflicting no damage on your intended targets. Also, be careful when peering through the binoculars, as your peripheral vision is significantly reduced. Ask your fireteam buddy to stand watch while you call in the strike—this is not a good time to get a tomahawk in the back.
Rocket Artillery
Support Action Points: 1,200
Rocket Artillery is yet another mortar-like offensive support action, but spread over a larger area. Like the other mortar strikes, this support action begins by designating a target area with a pair of binoculars. This particular strike is best directed at large open areas where the rockets are less likely to collide with overhead cover such as rooftops or trees. During Sector Control matches, consider launching a strike against flag locations when you suspect enemy troops are hiding nearby. Soon after the target is designated, rocket artillery begins slamming into the ground, killing any opponents unlucky enough to be caught in the wide blast radius.
