The Evil Within 2 Guide › Story Walkthrough

Hidden from the Start

This chapter starts off fast and furious. Somehow, Sebastian has arrived in a forest cabin under assault by swarms of Lost. Fortunately, he has a comrade who wields a mean assault rifle. Start shooting!

Overview

Union Nature Preserve

Objectives

  • Fight off the enemies surrounding the building
  • Follow Torres to her Safe House
  • Reach the entrance to Torres’s Safe House Collectibles
  • None

Fight off the enemies surrounding the building

This is a nature preserve, but it’s clearly preserving the wrong kind of nature. Open fire on the attacking Lost. Try to keep them from hopping through windows into the cabin, where they can attack both Sebastian and his Mobius partner. Torres has a health bar, so keep an eye on it. If her health drops to zero, she falls; you must heal her if you want her assistance in the fight. To heal, just stand next to her and hold down the Heal button shown onscreen until the meter fills up.

Look for ammo/health pickups around the rooms too. These pickups appear regularly, so grab them right away if you can.

Indoor Barbecue

If you get overwhelmed inside the cabin, kick over the oil drum in the main room and lure attackers into the spill. Then shoot it to eliminate multiple attackers with a toasty Lost bonfire.

The attackers come in five waves. The first wave is already hitting the front windows where you start ; after you clear it, a second wave hits the same place. The third wave bursts through the boarded-up windows in the back of the cabin. The fourth wave comes from both front and back. And the final wave is a pair of Spawn; one bursts right through the wall of the front room, and the other crashes in via a side window.

When the final wave is put down, your partner says “I think that’s the last of them” and leads you through the hole in the wall made by the Spawn. In the next room, she introduces herself as Esmeralda Torres then pushes aside the tool chest blocking the front door. Before you follow Torres to her Safe House, scour the cabin for any pickups you missed. Look for a Locker Key statue up in the rafters, too.

Locker Key Statue

Look up through the ceiling hole in the second room of the forest cabin. The statue sits in the attic on the edge of the hole. When you shoot it, the key drops to the floor.

Follow Torres to her Safe House

Now just walk along with Torres and listen to the dialogue to pick up important story elements. When Torres finds the usual route blocked , follow her to some fallen trees and talk to her. This triggers a quick scene: Torres clears a new path. Afterwards, walk with Torres down a long tunnel for some more enlightening conversation. Crouch when the passage gets low and then talk to Torres when you reach a cliff to figure out a way up.

Keep walking with Torres across the grassy plateau and listen to her describe the plan. Soon you hear an explosion and Torres sprints ahead. When you reach her, she’s checking out activity down the path. Follow her past the fence until both Torres and Sebastian automatically take cover . Watch the cutscene: a person in a breathing mask sprays an outpost up ahead with a powerful flamethrower.

Reach the entrance to Torres’s Safe House

Now Torres will follow your lead. Up ahead, a squad of fiery Disciples has deployed across the Mobius compound . Try to get a couple with Sneak Kills, but remember that a stealth attack won’t work on a Disciple that has ignited into its flame state; they flame on and off every few seconds. Use the vehicles, crates and foliage as cover along the left side of the pass, stalking prey as you go.

When you finally clear the area, slip through the gap in the barriers and scour the area for pickups, including a nice Sniper Rifle Ammo Pouch in the back of one of the Mobius APCs. Then head toward the red banner hanging in the dead tree up ahead. This marks the location of the hatch into Torres’s Safe House . When you reach the hatch, talk to Torres to open it and drop inside.

Follow Torres down the passage and through the doorway into the Safe House to trigger a cutscene: Sebastian discusses the situation with Torres and reports to Kidman, who offers to send info on Theodore to Sebastian’s Room. Then Sebastian tries to contact O’Neal, but the Mobius tech doesn’t answer. Sebastian is concerned and wants to check on him, so Torres points out the port computer down the hall, which connects to Exit 72 in The Marrow. This ends the chapter.
