As the old saying goes, if you don’t have your health, you’ve got nothing, right? Fortunately, The Evil Within 2 gives you some different ways to regain your health after slavering monsters rip it away from you.
Automatic Recovery
When your health drops below a certain critically low point, your onscreen Life Gauge turns red. When this happens, try to find a safe place to stand still for a few seconds—when you’re not moving, Sebastian’s health automatically replenishes up to a minimum good-health mark on the meter.
Medical Syringe / Medical Kit
Use these two health-restoring items efficiently. You want a solid buffer of health at all times, if possible. Don’t ever let your health meter drop near the minimum mark if you’ve got a Medical Syringe or Kit in your inventory. Use them! On the other hand, don’t consume a syringe or kit if your health meter is nearly full; this wastes a lot of good health. Wait until your meter is low enough that you get the full benefit of the item you’re using.
Sometimes your stock of Medical Syringes is full when you find a new one to pick up. Here you might want to use a Syringe from your stock even if your health meter is high enough that you can’t get the full benefit. Otherwise, you can’t pick up the new Syringe. But of course, another option is to mark its location (with an in-game waypoint or just in your memory) and push forward, returning if you suffer damage later and it’s not too difficult or dangerous to return.
Coffee Makers
Every Safe House has a Coffee Maker. Using it replenishes your health in full. If you’re not far from a Safe House and your health meter is low, consider saving your Medical Syringes and Medical Kits by ducking inside and pouring yourself a healing cup of joe. But remember that each time you use a Coffee Maker, it takes 20 minutes for the device to brew more coffee for consumption.
