The Evil Within 2 Guide › Foreword

From Bethesda Softworks and Tango Gameworks

Sebastian Castellanos’ life started falling apart when his daughter, Lily, died in a tragic fire. Ever since then, his life has been an avalanche of miserable moments, chief among which were the events that transpired at Beacon Mental Hospital, when he was pulled into a twisted world built using the mind of a serial killer. He barely made it out alive, and now—three years later—a face from his past has reentered his life to give him the first glimmer of hope he’s had in years: Lily is alive, and she’s being used as the Core of a new world called Union. In The Evil Within 2, Sebastian is going to have to return to the nightmare that nearly destroyed him in order to save her and find redemption.

The world of The Evil Within 2 is not a forgiving place; every move you make could be your last. As Sebastian, you’ll explore horrifying domains and encounter myriad terrifying creatures and psychopathic villains. Danger lurks around every corner and you will need to carefully plan your journey if you want to beat the odds that are heavily stacked against you.

In order to even the playing field a bit, you’ll be able to customize both Sebastian and his gear to suit your own unique playstyle. You can specialize in combat tactics, focusing on upgrades that boost Sebastian’s health and damage, or you could lean more toward the stealth approach and avoid conflict altogether. Then on top of customizing Sebastian, you can pick and choose which weapons you’d like to upgrade and how you’d like to go about it. Whether you decide to go guns-blazing with a powered up shotgun, sneak through the shadows and set traps with the crossbow, or become a jack-of-all-trades and dip your toe into all areas of the upgrade trees and weapon options, the customization options will allow you to build the right Sebastian for you.

With more open areas to explore, you’ll have the freedom to go at your own pace, and we can give you some helpful tips that might just help you survive the experience. From resource cache sites and secret pieces of lore, to enemy locations and tactical specifics, this strategy guide will provide you with all the information you’ll need to get started in Union. What you choose to do with that knowledge is up to you as you face your nightmares and fight to save your daughter.
