The Evil Within 2 has several types of collectible items listed under Inventory in your Communicator menu. Our Collectible Locations chapter lists every File, Slide and Residual Memory that you can collect in the game.
However, there is another category of item that could be considered a “secret collectible” because it’s not listed in your Inventory. As you move through the game, you can find eight different items that are described as “Mysterious.” After you collect each one, it appears atop a low bookcase in the office of Sebastian’s Room, right underneath Lily’s drawing on the corkboard.
Here’s where to find all eight Mysterious objects in the game.
Mysterious Mask
Available in Chapter 3
Look for this mysterious object in one of the derailed train cars along the western edge of the Union Residential District. It’s in the second car of the westernmost train strand; enter via the door just past the overturned van.
Mysterious Weapon Replica
Available in Chapter 3
On the eastern side of the Union Residential District, find the woodshed just south of Szilard House Inn and climb the ladder in the chain-link enclosure behind the shed. Walk across the boards to the rooftop of the house next door. The Mysterious Weapon Replica is on the front corner of the roof.
Mysterious Machine
Available in Chapter 3
In the enclosure outside the Tredwell Trucking warehouse, find the Mysterious Machine in the back of a delivery truck—it’s the truck parked in overgrown grass and backed up very close to the yard’s east perimeter fence. You have to roll up the truck’s rear door to get inside. The item sits behind a crate.
Mysterious Bobblehead
Available in Chapter 6
After you get past the Watcher the first time (in The Marrow: Facilities storage room), it reappears and grabs you as you try to leave a second storage room. When you escape the Watcher’s grasp and it disappears, go back into that room and veer rightward to find the Mysterious Bobblehead tucked behind a narrow gap in the crates.
Mysterious Action Figure
Available in Chapter 7
Down on the south end of the Union Business District, tune into the Residual Memory of a fallen Mobius soldier named Stevens, and then take a Storage Room Key from her corpse. Just around the corner from her sits a big blue waste bin. Find the Mysterious Action Figure tucked into a corner of the bin.
Mysterious Symbol
Available in Chapter 12
After Sebastian wakes up in his house in this chapter, explore the upstairs office (the room right at the top of the stairs) to find the Mysterious Symbol sitting on the credenza.
Mysterious Mug
Available in Chapter 13
After you meet Yukiko Hoffman in the lobby of the Sanctuary Hotel (where she delivers O’Neal’s device), look behind the reception desk to find the Mysterious Mug sitting on the counter.
Mysterious Toy
Available in Chapter 17
When Sebastian enters his house on the snowscape, turn right and head into the living room before you go upstairs to find Lily. Find the Mysterious Toy on the big shelf against the wall next to the kitchen.
