Quantum Break eGuide Characters

Nick Marsters

Like most residents of Riverport, Nick remembers well when city’s economy was completely down the toilet. So many people were unemployed or otherwise struggling just to get by; when the shipbuilding industry that had been the backbone of Riverport’s economy collapsed, it looked like the town might never recover from its slump.

But when Monarch Solutions came in, they came in with jobs—just building the skyscraper that houses Monarch’s headquarters was a massive project that brought in a lot of jobs and increased demand for basic services. With Monarch’s aggressive campaign of investment in the city, the company’s presence has been a real shot in the arm for Riverport. For a blue-collar guy like Nick, that matters a lot. Sitting behind the steering wheel of his cab, he sees the difference every day.

Thus, it comes as a great shock to him when he realizes the company he’s held in such high regard isn’t what he thought it was—that for all the financial stability it’s brought to Riverport, it’s also capable of deploying jackbooted thugs with orders to execute innocent people just to advance their own agenda.

For Nick, that feels like a personal insult—he’s defended Monarch for years now against any criticism from anybody, be it a friend in a bar or a customer in the back of his cab, and now this? He won’t stand for it.

Nick’s quick-witted and funny, but his particular combination of imagination and naiveté ensures that he’ll never have a reputation as a great thinker. Never one to be very discriminating about his sources, Nick pretty much believes everything he reads on the internet or partially overhears in a crowd. Accordingly, his beliefs are riddled with confused conspiracy theories and misconceptions about how the world actually works. Still, he knows bad guys when he sees them. And he’s not about to let them just run roughshod over his city.

Nick is portrayed by Sean Durrie.
