New Super Mario Bros 2 Guide › Worlds › World Three

World 3-B

Note

To unlock this level, you must find the secret exit in World 3-4.

This level caters to the special abilities of Mini Mario. To reach the Goal Pole, you must pass through small pipes, run along the water’s surface, and perform much bigger jumps than would otherwise be possible. Grab the Mini Mushroom from the ? Blocks at the start of the level, then head through the water and enter the small red pipe.

Tip

The red and yellow pipes lead to very similar areas, but the path through the red pipe contains all three of the level’s Star Coins.

This level contains several Gold Blocks—make sure you hit each one you find. Aside from the coins generated by this temporary power-up, the Gold Block provides Mini Mario with some much-needed protection.

The first Star Coin is floating at Point 3. Jump onto the Koopa Paratroopa and bounce to the Star Coin.

The second Star Coin is located in a hidden area. As you approach Point 4, jump onto the Koopa Paratroopa and bounce up to the platform. Enter the pipe at the top of the screen before it moves out of reach.

After you pass through the pipe, bounce on the Bullet Bills as they move through the area. Grab as many coins as you can, but make sure you’re in position to collect the Star Coin near the end of the path.

Jump through the Red Ring at Point 5 to reveal the red coins to the right. To collect them, you must jump along the platforms and bounce off of one Koopa Paratroopa.

The third Star Coin is located at Point 6. Jump onto the nearby Blocks, then make a running leap to the Star Coin. Move quickly to make sure you reach it before it moves out of reach.

Note

The path through the yellow pipe is very similar to the path through the red pipe. It doesn’t contain any Star Coins, but it’s slightly shorter and it scrolls at a slower pace. It also contains a P Switch, which turns many of the obstacles into coins.
