Mini Mario
When Mario uses a Mini Mushroom, he transforms into Mini Mario. Mini Mario is not much of a fighter, but this transformation does have some very useful abilities. In this form, Mario can pass through small pipes, run on water, and jump great distances. However, Mario is extremely vulnerable in this form. One hit is all it takes to stop him.
Small Mario
This is Mario’s default form. Small Mario can perform all of Mario’s basic moves, but his tiny fists lack the strength to smash through Blocks. He’s certainly not helpless, but this form leaves Mario extremely vulnerable damage—a single hit is enough to knock him out of commission.
Super Mario
When Mario has the occasion to use a Super Mushroom, he transforms into Super Mario. Super Mario packs a much bigger punch than Mario’s smaller forms. This form may not come equipped with any special attacks, but it does allow Mario to smash most Blocks. While in this form, Mario is able to survive a single hit, but the damage causes him to revert back to Small Mario.
Fire Mario
When Mario uses a Fire Flower, he transforms into Fire Mario. Fire Mario has all of Super Mario’s abilities, but this transformation includes a special attack. While in this form, Mario can use fireballs to attack enemies from a distance. If Fire Mario takes damage, he transforms into Super Mario.
Gold Mario
When Mario uses a Gold Flower, he transforms into Gold Mario. Gold Mario is an extremely powerful transformation. While in this form, Mario can throw explosive gold fireballs that are not only capable of defeating nearly any foe, they’re also able to transform Blocks into coins. If Gold Mario takes damage, he reverts to his previous form.
Raccoon Mario
When Mario uses a Super Leaf, he transforms into Raccoon Mario. Raccoon Mario is a very useful transformation. When in this form, Mario can attack enemies with his tail, glide over long distances, and even fly for a few seconds at a time! If Raccoon Mario takes damage, he transforms into Super Mario.
White Raccoon Mario
When Mario uses an Invincibility Leaf, he transforms into White Raccoon Mario. White Raccoon Mario has all of Raccoon Mario’s abilities, but this transformation has the added benefit of damage immunity! This powerful form does have a couple of drawbacks, however. To start with, this transformation is only made available when you lose several lives while attempting to complete a single level. More importantly, levels you complete while using this transformation do not count toward your star rating!
Mega Mario
When Mario collects a Mega Mushroom, he transforms into Mega Mario. Mega Mario is a very powerful form—unfortunately this power doesn’t last long. While in this form, Mario is immune to damage, and he can smash a path right through most obstacles.
