New Super Mario Bros 2 Guide › Worlds › World Five

World 5-Tower

Tip

This level contains several fire-spewing Burners. As you plan your route, pay attention to the size of each flame. The longer flames erupt at regular intervals, but the shorter flames are always active.

As you approach Point 1, the room begins filling with lava. Jump between the platforms and fences located throughout the area to stay clear of this creeping hazard.

Note

Most fences are stationary, but some of them move when you grab them. While these fences carry you through the area, you must dodge the spikes and flames in your path.

As you approach the first Star Coin, the fence you’re riding rotates counterclockwise. When it does, move to the center of the fence. As the fence moves past the flame at Point 2, make your way to the right.

Jump to the small fence below the Star Coin. Defeat or avoid the Koopa that’s guarding the area, and climb to the top of the fence. Jump up to grab the Star Coin, then leap back to the moving fence.

Leap through the Red Ring at Point 3 as soon as you’re within range. You must move quickly to stay ahead of the lava. Grab on to the fence to the right, then dodge the Burner flames as you collect the red coins.

If you bring a Mini Mushroom into the level, you can access a hidden room. As Mini Mario, wait for the flames at Point 4 to die down, then enter the pipe to the left. The hidden room contains power-ups, 1-Up Mushrooms, and a P Switch that reveals a stash of blue coins.

As you approach Point 5, move to the fence’s right edge. When the fence splits in half, the section you’re riding swings toward the Star Coin along the right wall. Jump over and collect the Star Coin, then hop back to the fence before the lava reaches the ledge.

As you approach Point 6, jump back over to the left half of the moving fence. It’s about to pass by the third Star Coin, so you need to move quickly.

Hop over and grab the Star Coin as the fence moves past the Burner’s flame.

The final chamber contains two small wheels, each of which holds two Reznors. When you enter the room, you drop down to a small platform between the two wheels. As you jump to a vacant ? Block, remember that fireballs can come from virtually any direction. Clear out all four Reznors to complete the level.
