SMGs are purpose built for close-range combat. With high rates of fire and good mobility and handling characteristics, they are ideal for taking the fight to the enemy. SMGs have excellent hip fire accuracy, making them easy to use in close quarters.

With the added mobility granted by Exo movement, SMGs can get into close range frighteningly quickly. In CQC, they can use Exo Boost Dodges very effectively when combined with hip fire. Some SMGs are stable enough to use out to a medium distance, though their damage drops off quite quickly compared to ARs. Avoid getting into too many long-range engagements. If you find yourself fighting in ADS at medium distances more often than you are up close, you may find you prefer an AR instead.
