Set in South American ruins being despoiled by mining operations, Instinct has steep elevation changes from one end of the map to the other, anchored around a central ruin structure.
Map Scorestreak: None.
Instinct can be a challenging level to move through safely, as there is a huge no man’s land below the central ruin stairs. If you are anywhere in the open down there, you are at risk from enemies in elevated positions. Use Exo movement to move through that space quickly, and avoid lingering in the open as much as possible. The upper portions of the level closer to (and beneath) the massive pyramid have more cover. You can fight in and around those more safely, as long as you are aware of enemy positions and likely avenues of assault.
In objective modes, all of the objectives flow in an arc from the area under the pyramid, down one edge of the map, and back along the edge of the lower area toward the C domination point. If combat is heavily focused on one side of the level, use the other side to flank the opposing team. If they’re distracted by an objective, you can often ambush them by quickly moving in from the opposite side of the level.
Be wary of standing on the top of the central ruins. It’s a tempting power position to snipe players far below, but it puts you in danger from many angles that you cannot cover. If you go up there, take a shot, and then get back down.
