A volcano observatory in Hawaii, Recovery is a highly unusual level that transitions partway through the match from one side of the map to another—permanently!
Map Scorestreak: None.
The most unique map event in the game occurs on Recovery. Partway into a match, the volcano begins to spew toxic gases into the complex. When this occurs, warnings sound, and brightly lit evacuation arrows guide you to the outer area of the map, beyond the blast doors. Once the blast doors are sealed, you can no longer access the first half of the map!
This event turns Recovery into a two-stage map: one part is fought closest to the volcano’s heart, the other takes place outside the blast doors on the edge of the volcano. The first half of the map has numerous rooftops and small interior areas, with multiple routes between the different objective targets. The second half is more open, with wide open helicopter pads and exposed grassy areas.
Spend some time exploring Recovery in a private match. That way, you can get an edge over players who aren’t used to the map transition.
Combat on Recovery is generally medium distance, though the first half of the map is a bit friendlier to short-range builds than the second half. You can even change classes if you find that the map shift disrupts your favored build.
