In addition to the shady merchant, Garrett can also visit with another helpful soul after “Chapter 1: Lockdown”: the Queen of Beggars. This wise woman knows everything that’s worth knowing about the City and its inhabitants and will help Garrett unlock his full Focus potential—for a small donation.
The first time you visit the Queen of Beggars, she’ll graciously give you a Focus point. This precious resource can be spent at any time to upgrade one of Garrett’s many Focus abilities. Simply open the Journal and select “Focus Upgrades” to begin the process. Pick the ability that you wish to upgrade, and the Focus point will be consumed. After that, you can donate 150 gold to the Queen of Beggars to purchase a second Focus point. The third Focus point you receive from her will cost you 300, and the fourth 450. The value continues to increase by a factor of 150 gold for each subsequent Focus point.
The Queen of Beggars is your primary resource for Focus points, but free points can also be found in certain chapters and in The City. Look for glowing symbols etched on walls, and simply stare at these symbols for a moment to obtain a Focus point. The following list details the locations of these free points (consult the walkthrough for more detailed descriptions on where to find them):
The City: South Quarter District —While exploring the Fish-Hawker’s Market area, enter the secret tavern. The symbol is behind the bar.
Chapter 3: Dirty Secrets —Find the secret trigger book in the Scriptorium area to access a hidden side room.
Chapter 4: A Friend in Need —Obtained near the end of the chapter as part of the story.
Chapter 5: The Forsaken —Check the dark nook at the bottom of the Old Prison’s stairwell just before you enter the Reformation area.
Chapter 6: A Man Apart —Obtained near the end of the chapter as part of the story.
Chapter 7: The Hidden City —Obtained near the end of the chapter as part of the story.
