Special Loot Hunt adds a new layer of depth to Chain & Gain. All of the aforementioned rules and gameplay nuances apply, but in Special Loot Hunt, your primary objective is to hunt down precious collectibles. The maps are largely identical to those of Chain & Gain: You’ll find the same guards walking the same patrols, and all of the common loot items and resources (arrows, food, and poppies) lie in the same places. The only real differences are the existence of collectibles, along with the persistent countdown timer (similar to that of Chain & Gain Limited).
Finding Collectibles
Though you must find a certain number of collectibles in order to win at Special Loot Hunt, only one collectible is present in the stage at a time. To help you find it, the collectible’s general location is shown on your map. In addition, the top-left combo counter changes from blue to green to amber to red as you approach the collectible. Exploit both of these tools to track down each collectible as quickly as you can. Once you find it, another collectible appears elsewhere. Check your map and keep tracking down those collectibles, striving to find them all before time expires!
Barred Doors
You may notice that certain doors are barred during Special Loot Hunt. This feature is intended to prevent you from wandering too far away from the current collectible. For example, in Northcrest Manor, if the first collectible appears in the cellar, then the doors that lead up to the first floor will remain barred until you find it. Whenever you notice barred doors, consider where the game might be trying to steer you, and conduct your search for the collectible accordingly.
Extending the Clock
In Special Loot Hunt, you can add precious seconds to the countdown timer by finding common loot items. As previously detailed, all common loot items appear in the same places as they do in Chain & Gain. Each common loot item you find adds 5 seconds to the countdown timer, in addition to boosting your score, increasing your chain count, and refilling your chain combo timer. Grab every common loot item you see to boost your score and give yourself more time to track down those collectibles!
