  • Description: This dazzling solar array requires advanced resources and workers from participating cities in the region. Cities connected to the Solar Farm can purchase large amounts of power at a discounted cost.

Tired of those frequent power outages? Running out of space for power plants of your own? Of all the Great Works projects, the Solar Farm is perhaps the most practical, supplying all connected cities with unlimited clean, cheap power. Once constructed, connected cities can purchase power directly from the Solar Farm, similar to purchasing power from neighboring cities.

But since this is a shared resource, all cities get a significant discount—after all, they built it! In addition to being cheap and dependable, the Solar Farm frees cities from the pollution/meltdown concerns associated with the Coal, Oil, and Nuclear Power Plants.

If all connected cities buy power from the Solar Farm, you also don’t have to worry about power plant-generated air pollution drifting in from a neighboring city, helping make the region a much healthier place for all Sims.

Add all four Processor Assembly Line modules to your Processor Factory to increase the production of processors needed at the Solar Farm site.

Like any worthwhile endeavor, building a Solar Farm isn’t easy—you’ll need access to three separate city specializations as well as a University. For best results, divide the gathering of construction resources among a minimum of three specialized cities. An oil city is responsible for producing plastic at an Oil Refinery while a mining city cranks out alloy from a Smelting Factory.

Meanwhile, emphasize education in a third city with the construction of a University and electronics business. A University with a School of Science is required to complete the Solar Farm research project. Plus, the University can supply plenty of skilled workers for the Processor Factory.

When it comes to producing processors, instead of buying plastic and alloy from the global market, import it from the oil and mining cities as gifts—this cuts down on production costs significantly. Ramping up production across all three city specializations may take a while, particularly for the education/electronics city.

The gathering of resources and construction only adds to the timeline. But if your region has the patience and long-term vision, the Solar Farm is definitely worth the wait.
