One day a large airship arrives at Peach’s Castle in the Mushroom Kingdom. This Zeeppelin carries an invitation to Princess Peach and her subjects urging them to visit Pi’illo Island, a luxury resort. Along with her staff and Toadsworth, Peach boards the Zeeppelin headed for Pi’illo Island. Of course, Mario and Luigi decide to tag along for this adventure too.
En route to Pi’illo Island, the travelers receive a transmission from Dr. Snoozemore, the proprietor of the resort. When he’s not dozing off, Dr. Snoozemore is researching the science of sleep. Apparently there’s a special power on Pi’illo Island that encourages sleep.
But the peaceful journey is interrupted by the appearance of a mysterious purple figure. Sensing danger, Mario leaps into action to defend Peach and the other passengers. During this sequence, Toadsworth advises Mario on the basics of battling enemies, including a tutorial of the Jump attack. Follow Toadworth’s step-by-step instruction to perform the Jump attack.
Immediately after successfully performing a Jump attack, you must evade a throng of incoming bat-like creatures. Time your jumps carefully to avoid getting hit. The bat-like creatures flying above pose no threat. However, be ready to leap over the bats heading directly for you. After evading these attacks, perform another Jump attack on the mysterious purple figure. Scoring a single direct hit on the enemy causes him to explode, emitting rainbow-colored rays and stars.
There’s little time to celebrate Mario’s victory. The exploding enemy has damaged the Zeeppelin, resulting in a rapid descent. Fortunately, Pi’illo Island isn’t far away. But just as the Zeeppelin is about to crash, Luigi is startled and awakes from a dream in a panic, stumbling off the Zeeppelin and crashing onto the Blimport landing pad. The whole encounter with the mysterious enemy was a dream all along. Princess Peach, Mario, and the others have safely arrived at Pi’illo Island!
