Dog Traits

Adventurous

Description: Adventurous Pets are very curious and love to explore.

Benefits: Dogs with the Adventurous trait gain Fun from exploring.

Shortcomings: Adventurous dogs get up on the furniture more.

Unique Features: : Opposing reinforceable trait is Skittish.

Aggressive

Description: Agressive pets aren’t inherently mean, they usually just have a bad attitude when interacting with other pets. A bad attitude that usually leads to fights that is...

Benefits: Aggressive pets always catch Burglars and are less likely to be startled by fights or other pets’ behavior.

Shortcomings: More likely to fight other pets or chase the Mailman.

Unique Features: : Opposing reinforceable trait is Friendly.

Clueless

Description: Clueless pets tend to forget what they’re doing and are easily distracted. They don’t learn skills and traits too quickly, but they do get along well with Absent-Minded Sims.

Benefits: Clueless pets gain relationship faster with Absent-Minded and Easily Impressed Sims, and other Clueless pets.

Shortcomings: Tend to forget what they’re doing and stand around with their tongue hanging out, looking vacant.

Unique Features: : This trait is not reinforceable.

Destructive

Description: Whether destroying furniture or digging holes in the yard Destructive Pets are sure to cause chaos wherever they are!

Benefits: None.

Shortcomings: Destructive dogs will knock over trash cans, chew up furniture, and dig holes in the yard.

Unique Features: : Opposing reinforceable trait is Non-Destructive.

Friendly

Description: Pets with the Friendly trait not only get along better with other pets, but they’ll usually have better relationships with their Sims as well.

Benefits: Friendly dogs build relationships with both Sims and other pets faster.

Shortcomings: Friendly dogs make poor guard animals. They will also try to get on the furniture to be with their friend Sims.

Unique Features: : Opposing reinforceable trait is Aggressive.

Genius

Description: Genius pets are always thinking on their paws (or hooves). They learn skills and new traits quickly and get along well with other Genius pets and Sims.

Benefits: Genius dogs gain skills and traits faster, and are less likely to pee on the floor. They also build relationship faster with other Genius Sims and Pets.

Shortcomings: None.

Unique Features: : This trait is not reinforceable.

Hunter

Description: Pets with the Hunter trait are excellent at stalking and catching prey.

Benefits: Gains Hunting skill more easily.

Shortcomings: None.

Unique Features: : Trait is reinforceable with Hunt training.

Hydrophobic

Description: Hydrophobic dogs have a natural aversion for anything that relates to water. When in the water, they are definitely not happy.

Benefits: Dog will never automously swim in pools.

Shortcomings: Swimming gives the dog the Hydrophobic negative moodlet.

Unique Features: : Opposing reinforceable trait is Likes Swimming.

Hyper

Description: Hyper pets are super active and never like staying in one place. They are able to build energy much more quickly and have a slower energy decay.

Benefits: Hyper dogs can train skills for longer before becoming fatigued.

Shortcomings: Hyper dogs bark more often and rarely lie down.

Unique Features: : Opposing reinforceable trait is Lazy.

Independent

Description: Independent pets not only prefer to be on their own, but have more fun when playing on their own rather than in big groups or other social situations.

Benefits: Independent dogs are more able to amuse themselves with solo activities like playing with a ball, and their Social motive decays at a slower rate.

Shortcomings: Less likely to autonomously interact with other pets and Sims.

Unique Features: : This trait is not reinforceable.

Lazy

Description: Lazy pets just love to lie down or stay in one place as they get tired easily.

Benefits: Lazy dogs rarely bark.

Shortcomings: Lazy dogs lie down frequently and quickly get fatigued from skill gain.

Unique Features: : Opposing reinforceable trait is Hyper.

Likes Swimming

Description: Contrary to popular belief, not all breeds of dogs like to swim. However, when given this trait, dogs just can’t get enough satisfaction from taking a dip.

Benefits: Dog will swim more often.

Shortcomings: None.

Unique Features: : Opposing reinforceable trait is Hydrophobic.

Loyal

Description: “A dog is a Sim’s best friend” is a saying that certainly holds true! Loyal dogs love spending time and interacting with their Sims, and even seem to learn skills faster than other dogs.

Benefits: Loyal dogs follow their favorite Sims around, and prefer to be in the same room with their Sims. They also learn skills faster, accept socials more often, and build relationship with family members sooner. Will autonomously guard more often.

Shortcomings: None.

Unique Features: : None.

Neat

Description: Neat pets are naturally clean and love to be bathed.

Benefits: Neat dogs won’t autonomously eat trash, drink from the toilet, or perform other Piggy behaviors.

Shortcomings: None.

Unique Features: : Opposing reinforceable trait is Piggy.

Noisy

Description: Noisy pets are very vocal and provide a special accompaniment when Sims are playing instruments.

Benefits: Noisy dogs howl along with instruments being played.

Shortcomings: Noisy dogs bark a lot.

Unique Features: : Opposing reinforceable trait is Quiet.

Non-Destructive

Description: Non-Destructive pets are very gentle, and never destroy furniture or dig holes in the yard.

Benefits: Non-Destructive dogs won’t knock over trash cans or chew up the furniture.

Shortcomings: None.

Unique Features: : Opposing reinforceable trait is Destructive.

Piggy

Description: Piggy pets are voracious eaters who don’t mind munching garbage or drinking from the toilet.

Benefits: Piggy pets don’t mind being dirty.

Shortcomings: Will get into trash, drink from toilet, and beg. Piggy pets get hungry faster, scarf their food, and may make puddles while eating.

Unique Features: : Opposing reinforceable trait is Neat.

Playful

Description: Playful pets always want to have fun and have a happy-go-lucky attitude.

Benefits: Fun interactions provide more fun for both Playful pets and their Sims.

Shortcomings: Fun need decays faster.

Unique Features: : None.

Proud

Description: Proud pets think they’re better than others and make their own image a top priority; they can’t stand having low hygiene.

Benefits: None.

Shortcomings: Proud dogs do not autonomously socialize with younger animals, and take a bigger mood hit for being dirty.

Unique Features: : Unique Features: : Proud pets have a special nose-in-the-air pose.

Quiet

Description: Quiet Pets do not make much noise.

Benefits: Quiet dogs never bark.

Shortcomings: Will not howl along with music, and get a slightly negative moodlet when music is being played.

Unique Features: : Opposing reinforceable trait is Noisy.

Shy

Description: Pets with the Shy trait prefer and are the happiest when around their Sims. Being around other pets and Sims makes them a bit nervous.

Benefits: Shy pets prefer to socialize with the Sim they have the highest relationship with. When interacting with this Sim, they gain more Social, Fun, and skill.

Shortcomings: Get the Too Many People moodlet in a crowd. Will not autonomously socialize with other animals much.

Unique Features: : None.

Skittish

Description: Skittish pets have a nervous disposition and are easily startled.

Benefits: None.

Shortcomings: Skittish pets are more likely to get nauseous. They may become startled by a Sim, or by nothing at all.

Unique Features: : Opposing reinforceable trait is Adventurous.

Once you’ve set your pet’s initial traits, you can set the voice, and edit the biography to make a storyline for your dog.

The two buttons at the bottom of the panel are randomizer buttons. Click the Randomize Coat button (on the left) or the Randomize Face button (on the right) for unpremeditated choices.
