At the End of the Aether

Cost:Type: cutscene

The three explorers are fascinated with the dimension to which they are transported.

Y’shtola, while impressed that worlds can coalesce from people’s memories, fears this ability may be used for evil. The other two, however, seem oblivious to this possibility.

A Madcap’s Machinations

After traveling through a few gateways, the trio arrives at a memory of Vaan’s hometown: Rabanastre.

For Kefka, the current conflict is as exciting as watching paint dry. To alleviate his boredom, he decides to try painting the royal city red with explorer blood.

Not even a sticky situation will wipe the smirk from Kefka’s powdered face.

The energy from their battle attracts the planesgorger. Its minions swarm the battlefield in such numbers that it is all the trio can do just to retreat.

Challenging Ifrit

Cost: 1 memoria Type: battle (Boss)

Available champions: Y’shtola, Vaan, Onion KnightOpponents: IfritLocation: Proving GroundsReward: 2 Treasures

The summons will submit only to those who have proven themselves worthy. Show this beast the most ardent of fires burns within you.

The god of fire is agile and aggressive, attacking quickly and often. Keep moving away from right in front of him, being especially wary of his pouncing and charging attacks. Engage only immediately after you’ve evaded his swings, or when his attention is focused on teammates.

Y’shtola has a much easier time than her companions with this fight, as she can stand at a distance and fire projectiles from safety. Both Conflagration and Blazing Embers have relatively short reach, so she is safe from all threats to her HP. Make sure to apply your debuffs on Ifrit to keep him slow and his Bravery low. When the second phase begins, don’t be alarmed by the fires that now surround the battlefield, as they are merely aesthetic. However, watch out for Hellfire as it can be difficult to discern in a sea of red.

Onion Knight has the option of playing at range, but if you want to play in melee range along with Vaan, you need to be constantly aware of Conflagration as it has a wide area of effect and you can still get hit after sidestepping. As a melee combatant, you will need to be very patient with your hit-and-run tactics because Ifrit is unrelenting in his close-range attacks.
