Crowd Events are minor ambient events that can happen anywhere, at any time, and are completely optional: there are no consequences for ignoring them completely.
The primary types of Crowd Events you will encounter are:
Killing one or two targets (which sometimes requires that you chase the individual in question).
Stopping a criminal, which can mean tackling a runaway, or intimidating bullies. In the latter instance, drawing your sword (hold 
/ 
) or dropping a Cherry Bomb will usually suffice.
Assisting civilians or protecting them from harassers. Note that you can give money to beggars by using the Throw Money tool.
Fulfilling these tasks will grant rewards when you complete certain sets, in other words every time you reach specific milestones in the amount of crowd events you have fulfilled.

Whenever you choose to intervene during a crowd event, be mindful of your environment. If there are guards or Extremists in the vicinity, they may attack you – so think twice before springing into action. This is especially true when you are in the middle of a complicated mission, where actively courting the attention of others is rarely in your best interests.
