Note that when you assassinate a guard from a hiding spot, you loot him automatically and instantaneously. This even applies to mission objectives that require you to steal something from a target.
Mission Rewards: Many missions will grant a sum of francs as part of their completion rewards. Heists and Helix Rifts can prove especially lucrative. The later Paris Stories side quests also offer significant payments, but the number of enemies that you will face in the harder Memories is commensurately generous.
