Milestone 20: Jack Denham
Locate Jack Denham
You have finally reached the Spire and must find Jack Denham to bring all of this to an end.
As you advance down the corridor, look at the EuroCorp logo on the glass doors. Activate the DART overlay to see a personal propaganda message.
Advance down a long corridor and through several glass doors as you make your way to the datacore.
As you get to the end of the corridor, a pair of doors open and three Agents emerge.
If you thought fighting against one Agent at a time was tough, three is near impossible. However, you are Miles Kilo—and you can do this.
Agent Merit starts the fight by firing a barrage of grenades at you. There is no way to dodge or evade these. As they hit you, the blast knocks you down to a lower level.
Merit stays up on a higher platform firing at you with a minigun while the twins move in to attack you from two different sides.
Fire at Merit to trigger a release mechanism on the elevator where he is standing.
That will temporarily take him out of the battle and allow you to focus on the twins. Otherwise Merit continues to fire at you and breach the servers to drop them down into the floor, depriving you of cover.
While Merit is active, he can also heal the twins.
Quickly move to one side and take cover behind some computer servers so you have protection from the minigun. You can also breach more terminals that are in the floor to raise them for additional cover.
Along the walls are weapons racks where you can pick up a CQC-11 shotgun—an excellent weapon for close-quarters combat, as well as TAR-39s with attached grenade launchers.
Both of these weapons are great for this fight. Plus you can return to the weapons racks for more ammo.
The twins are both wearing electro armor. Therefore, you need to short circuit it with a breach before you can begin inflicting damage. The key is to focus on one twin at a time.
One twin moves in for close combat with a TAR-39 while the other stays back and tries to hurt you with long-range fire from a COIL laser rifle.
As a twin is momentarily stunned by the breach, move in and shoot away with the shotgun to get in as much hurt as possible. Then when she recovers, take cover.
During the heat of this intense fight, it is easy to forget the DART overlay.
However, use it as often as possible since it slows down time and, if you have upgraded with some abilities, can increase the damage you inflict, your accuracy, and even decrease the amount of damage you take.
Use the overlay until it shuts off on its own, then as soon as it recharges fully, activate it again.
Once you defeat one of the twins, she goes down and a red resurrect bar appears over her. When the bar fills, she is restored back to partial health and starts attacking again.
To prevent this from occurring, and take her out of the fight permanently, move in and execute her with a melee attack.
You have to act quickly since the second twin moves in to try to prevent you from executing her sister as soon as the first goes down.
Take cover behind the computer servers so you can lure this twin in for closer combat.
During the fight, if you see the computer servers start dropping down into the floor, you know that Merit has recovered. Fire at him again to keep him out of the fight and to keep your cover up.
Then raise the servers as quickly as you can and continue the fight.
Take down the second twin and execute her to end the first phase of this battle. Quickly rush to get some ammo for your weapons while there is a brief lull in the fighting.
Now you have to face off against Agent Merit.
Quickly take cover and raise more servers. You want to keep Merit at a distance, so switch to your TAR-39. Crystallize his armor with a breach and then start firing away.
Once his armor is down, switch to the grenade launcher and launch a grenade or two to quickly drop his trauma status bar and eliminate the first layer of armor.
Now you have to short-circuit his electro armor layer. Get in some hits while he is momentarily stunned.
Merit can use the Backfire app on you. When you see a red meter appear in front of your eyes, race for cover since you momentarily are blinded and lose the use of your weapon when the app activates.
Since this also reduces the ammo of your current weapon in half, switch to the weapon you are not using much before the Backfire hits you.
Merit can launch his grenades at you during the fight. Try to defuse as many in midair as possible and move toward Merit.
While firing grenades, and for a short moment afterward, Merit has to stand still and can’t fire at you. Move in and do as much damage to him as possible. Then when he starts returning fire, rush for cover.
After you get through one layer of electro armor, short-circuit the second layer and keep hitting him with everything you have. When you run out of grenades, rush to a weapon rack to get more.
After you have eliminated Merit’s second layer of electro armor, breach it to deactivate his armor completely.
Move in to execute Merit. However, he is not yet down for the count.
Merit begins hitting you with his fists. The brawl continues for a bit. Once you regain control, press the action button repeatedly to start hitting back.
Keep pounding away and you finally get to see the face of your character, Miles Kilo.
Once Merit is dead, make your way back out into the area where you just fought the three Agents and continue to the elevator, which has been lowered.
Ride the elevator up to the higher level and then exit and follow a narrow walkway farther into the datacore.
As you continue advancing, Jack Denham tries to override your chip with his own. Keep moving forward as your vision gets fuzzy and distorted.
Despite Denham’s efforts to try to shut down your system, you make it to the room where Denham is waiting.
Like any good villain, he delivers a monologue as he attempts to finish you off with attacks against your chip.
When prompts appear on the screen, repeatedly press the action button to get back up. Denham, realizing that he has lost, steps off the edge and falls down into the datacore to his death.
Lily appears and informs you that she has cut off your chip from EuroCorp. They can no longer touch you. The future is ahead of you—and you are now in control of it.
