Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare eGuide Zombies

Scientist Zombie

The Scientist’s technical wizardry allows him to warp in close to his enemies, where he can cause the most damage. He can also drop a Zombie Healing Station for himself and his teammates.

Primary Weapon: Goo Blaster
Available Upgrades
  • Perfect Rapid Reloader: A Perfect Rapid Reloader is the most optimized, energy-efficient way to reload quickly.
  • Higher-Capacity Goo Tanks: Goo tank capacity is increased, resulting in more ammo capacity.
  • Zomboss-Enhanced Goo: Zomboss-Enhanced Goo, scientifically designed to cause more damage—and tastes better too!

The Scientist Class of zombie is an effective and vital part of any team. Able to deal high damage with its Goo Gun up close, while providing healing for allies, the Scientist should be treated as a combat medic. Of course, this level of versatility makes the Scientist a big target. Good Scientists will quickly find themselves at the center of plant attention, whether they want it or not.

Special Abilities

Sticky Explody Ball

The Sticky Explody Ball does exactly what you think it should. But did you know it only explodes in the presence of plants? Neat!

Able to stick to nearly any surface, the Sticky Explody Ball makes a great surprise against encroaching plant hordes, but it can still be used on the offensive, as it can stick to plants too! Hitting a plant with a Sticky Explody Ball will trigger a detonation after a short delay.

Warp

The Scientist has the ability to Warp through space and time. This is handy for dodging attacks, avoiding Chompers, and, well, it’s just fun.

This the bread-and-butter of any aggressive Scientist. You can trigger a Warp twice in a row before the ability is forced to cool down. This allows you to quickly get in optimal range for our primary weapon, or use it to escape danger. When combined with an Engineer’s Sonic Grenade, you can quickly Warp into range of stunned plants and dispense indiscriminate justice.

Zombie Heal Station

The Scientist is the unofficial healer of the zombie team, thanks to the latest Zomboss Healing Station technology. It emits a strange, purple goop substance that heals all nearby allies.

One of the hardest things to beat is a group of zombies holed up in a difficult-to-reach area, being constantly restored by a Zombie Heal Station set down by an attentive Scientist. Unlike the Sunflower’s healing flower pot, the Zombie Heal Station dispenses a steady stream of constant healing.

Variants

Marine Biologist

The Marine Biologist and his Dolphin Zombie companion are a dangerous pair, able to spray fish innards with an almost unmatched style and effectiveness.

Primary Weapon: Dolphin Blaster
Available Upgrades
  • Less Slippery Fish: The fish snacks for Dolphin Zombie are less slippery, resulting in faster reload times.
  • Improved Dolphin Hunger: Dolphin Zombie is hungry and able to store more fish guts, resulting in an increase to ammo capacity.
  • Genetically Modified Fish: By using genetically modified fish for food, the Dolphin Zombie spits out more damaging fish guts.

The Dolphin Blaster gains a bit more range compared to the standard Scientist Goo Blaster, but still excels in short- to mid-range combat. The shots fired by the Dolphin Blaster are quite fast, allowing the Marine Biologist to fight more effectively outside of short range.

Dr. Toxic

They call him Dr. Toxic because he’s so toxic. His portable reactor pack and Radiation Blaster give him a green aura that’s hard to miss.

Primary Weapon: Radiation Blaster
Available Upgrades
  • Toxic Reloader: Yes! The Toxic Reloader is toxic. It reloads faster too.
  • Enriched Urbanium Storage: Urbanium storage increases ammo capacity by enlarging the thing that holds the ammo.
  • More Toxic Toxins: By exposing the toxins to toxic materials, the damage output is increased.

Dr. Toxic brings a twist to the close-quarters prowess of the Scientist Class. Simply getting close to a plant will cause it to suffer the effects of Dr. Toxic’s radioactive aura. On top of this, the Radiation Blaster can cause a small damage-over-time effect on stricken plants that stacks with Dr. Toxic’s aura. Bold Dr. Toxic players can completely disrupt a group of plants simply by getting in close, a devastating combination with an Engineer setting them up with a Sonic Grenade first.

Physicist

Using himself as a conductor, he likes to help free electricity from its power pole prison, letting it loose into the world.

Primary Weapon: EMP Frazzle Launcher
Available Upgrades
  • Pristine Reloader: This brand-new, pristine-condition Reloader improves the overall reload speed.
  • Super Flux Inhibitor: In addition to inhibiting flux, the Super Flux Inhibitor also increases ammo capacity.
  • Positronic Damage Blammer: The Positronic Damage Blammer fits on the end of the gun and blams plants, causing more damage.

The Physicist has a range advantage over some of the Scientist Variants, causing electrical damage to any plants unfortunate enough to be in his path. Still, you’ll get the most out of the weapon by being up close, as the damage from the EMP Frazzle Launcher drops off the farther you are from a target.

Astronaut

The Astronaut Zombie claims there is a secret Lunar Suburbia on the dark side of the moon—a place perfect for zombie plundering. None of the other zombies believe him.

Primary Weapon: Moon Rock Launcher
Available Upgrades
  • Airtight Reload Matrix: The Airtight Reload Matrix can reload faster even when not in zero-G.
  • Moon Rock Capacity Booster: It’s simple, really: by storing more moon rocks, the ammo capacity increases.
  • Less Crumbly Moon Rocks: By hand-picking some of the less crumbly moon rocks, the damage output is increased.

The Moon Rock Launcher makes the Astronaut more of a long-ranged character, an All-Star with the versatility that comes from having the Special Abilities of a Scientist Zombie. The Astronaut can hit surprisingly hard and accurately from afar. Use the Sticky Explody Balls and discourage plants who give chase, while the Warp makes a great way to stay away from the enemy and in the Astronaut’s optimal range.

Chemist

The Chemist Zombie spends his time taste-testing unstable chemical concoctions. Despite his appearance, he insists he’s no worse for wear.

Primary Weapon: Chemical Beaker Blaster
Available Upgrades
  • Experimental Reload Kabob: The Experimental Reload Kabob enhances reload speed.
  • Unobtanium Compression: Unobtanium is compressed, allowing for higher ammo capacity.
  • Enhanced Unobtanium Spray: Chemically formulated to vanquish plants faster, the Unobtanium Spray boosts damage output.

Of all the Scientist Variants, the Chemist has the shortest-range primary weapon. You quite literally need to be right in front of the enemy to deal damage, but fortunately, the Chemical Beaker Blaster deals heavy damage on top of having a good rate of fire. With upgrades, the Chemist can be one of the most dangerous characters to face at close range. With the Warp, a good Chemist can be one of the scarier Classes in the game.
