Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare has a variety of modes, but look closer and you’ll see that each of them boils down into one of a limited pool of game types. In addition, there are a couple of other related game modes. Read up on them below.
Welcome Mat
If you’re new to the game, get your feet wet in the Welcome Mat. This mode is a great place to get started and learn the ropes. Welcome Mat lets you play in Team Vanquish on the Suburban Flats map, with the added rule that players who are repeatedly vanquished several times in a row will get a boost in their overall health when respawning. As you level up in Welcome Mat, new game modes will open up to you.
Garden Ops
Plant a Garden in any of the map’s designated areas, and protect it from the zombies! Much like the original Plants vs. Zombies games, zombies will attack your Garden in increasingly difficult waves, and it’s up to you and your fellow plants to fend them off using all of the characters and tools at your disposal! Team Vanquish
Want to just quickly jump in and get into silly fights with your friends and people around the world? Play Team Vanquish and become part of a plant or zombie squad with just one objective: score enough vanquishes for your team! You can find out more about Team Vanquish in the Team Vanquish section.
Gardens and Graveyards
Gardens and Graveyards is the most involved game type. Play as the plants or the zombies in a bid to protect or conquer an entire huge territory in phases! As zombies, you must push ever forward to the plants’ stronghold; as the plants, you must defend or be constantly pushed back! Which faction will be victorious? The answer is, as always, up to you.
Split Screen
Split Screen is perfect if you have a friend nearby. Grab your controllers and prepare to engage in an endless “survival” rendition of Garden Ops! Waves of zombies will approach, each one more dangerous than the last, until you and your Garden fall! How long can you protect it?
Boss Mode
Love yourself some Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare but prefer to take a more hands-off or cerebral approach? Sink your teeth into Boss Mode! Play as Dr. Zomboss or Crazy Dave, and use hand movements and gestures to help out your fellow zombies or plants who are fighting in real time with aids such as health drops and airstrikes!
