- Stick Together: While a one-on-one encounter will typically go to the better player who uses his or her abilities and the environment to their fullest extent, you can’t count on the enemy to be alone. Staying in a group allows you to vanquish enemies faster, and you can also enjoy the support abilities that Classes like the Sunflower or Scientist have to offer.
- Stay Moving: In and out of combat, you generally want to stay on the move. Staying mobile can make life tough for long-ranged Classes trying to snipe you from afar, or in close quarters against an opponent.
- Work the Map: While you can hole up and wait for the enemy to come to you, this isn’t always the best plan. Most maps provide multiple ways to get to any location, so even the safest camping spot can be overrun if the enemy is determined enough. A good plan is to run through a map with a group, hunting for enemy players as they spawn.
- Observe and Understand Your Surroundings: Whether you’re holed up in a camping spot to snipe at enemies or are on the move, pay attention to any potential places a foe could be lying in wait to ambush you, or any potential paths the enemy could use to outflank you. A particular threat comes from the Foot Soldier and Peashooter Classes. These characters can use special abilities to quickly get access to advantageous positions.
- Use the Right Class and Variant: Depending on the make-up of your team, or the map you’re playing on, you should be prepared to change Classes or Variants as the situation calls for. If you’re working with a group of allies and notice you’re light on healing, let your buddies know, and offer to switch over to Sunflower or Scientist. If you’re finding yourself fighting at long ranges, choose a Class Variant that excels at those distances.
