Chomper primarily uses hit-and-run tactics to get in close and feast on zombies. He prefers tunneling underground and emerging beneath zombies for surprise attacks. He loves the taste of zombie feet—with just a dash of salt.
Primary Weapon: Chomp
Available Upgrades |

Chomper is Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare’s only pure close range/melee unit. If you’re not a fan of shooting projectiles at zombies, then pick Chomper to get up close and personal. Chomper is a master of trapping and burrowing. Spit Goop at enemies to stop them from moving, set Spikeweed traps to catch unsuspecting zombies and leave them immobile, hanging in the air and vulnerable...or better yet, Burrow underground, inaccessible to nearly all enemies until you leap back up to swallow them whole, regardless of how much health they have! Never count this scrapper out.
Special Abilities
Chomper Goop

Hitting targets with Chomper’s ranged Goop attack is a great way to slow them down, making them easier to Chomp. They taste better, too!
Chomper Goop slows enemies to a crawl, and unlike other Classes, this comes standard on all Chompers—you don’t have to pick an Ice Variant to gain this power. It also has a wide area of effect. What this means is that you can sneak near a group of zombies, Goop them, and render them near-helpless for your buddies to vanquish, or move further in for a Chomp yourself. Goop also slowly drains health from zombies, making it a win-win proposition.
Burrow

Chomper’s ultimate weapon. He has the ability to tunnel under the ground and ambush unsuspecting zombies by emerging under their feet and swallowing them whole!
The Burrow is absolutely invaluable in crippling enemy forces. Burrow underground, find the most important zombie you can amongst the ones you see coming toward you, then Chomp him down in one go. Keep in mind, however, that the enemy can still see you coming—watch out for the Engineer Class of zombies, who can counter your Burrowing in a heartbeat with their Sonic Grenade!
Spikeweed

Laying Spikeweed traps is a great way to ambush zombies. If they walk over the Spikeweed, they get ensnared and are easy to Chomp.
Spikeweeds are like mines, except that instead of exploding when zombies get close, they trap them and make them immobile. Use this to escape from battle and let your fellow plants handle the vanquishing, or just finish the job yourself.
Variants
Hot Rod Chomper

The Hot Rod Chomper is the fastest Chomper in Suburbia. Equipped with a heavy-duty blower, port and polished heads, and a lightweight frame, he can race in on the unsuspecting zombies.
Primary Weapon: Hot Rod Chomp
Available Upgrades |

There’s a reason the Hot Rod has that awesome paint job. While he may be functionally similar to other Chompers, he has one unique power: whenever he swallows a zombie whole, he gains a temporary burst of speed not unlike the Peashooter’s Hyper ability. This makes hit-and-run tactics even more valuable than they already are with Chomper. Get in, gulp an enemy, get out fast, then repeat!
Toxic Chomper

The Toxic Chomper is, well...toxic! He enjoys getting in close to zombies and damaging them with his toxic aura.
Primary Weapon: Toxic Spray
Available Upgrades
|

When you think about it, the Toxic Chomper is utterly hilarious, in a good way. As with all Toxic Classes, this little guy has a poisonous aura about him, which will almost always be in effect, since he has to be in close to fight. On top of that, the Toxic Spray is almost as efficient at dispatching zombies as the Power Chomper’s Electric Spray (see below). The result is a Class you can simply send over and over into zombie hordes, knowing that he’ll be able to wreak utter havoc to their formations, whether or not he’s sacrificed in the process.
Fire Chomper

The Fire Chomper enjoys chasing the zombies around using his intimidating flames to make them flee.
Primary Weapon: Flame Spray
Available Upgrades |

While Chompers will always be close-combat fighters, the Flame Spray adds a teensy bit of range to the Fire Chomper’s arsenal. The spray hits rapidly and repeatedly, scoring multiple hits in a small amount of time. As with all Fire-based weaponry, this will set zombies aflame as well, causing them to slowly be drained of health in addition to any other damage they take. Try Gooping your enemies first to make them even easier to wear down.
Power Chomper

The Power Chomper was taught his battle tactics from the Fire Chomper. He also charges in on zombies, but instead utilizes an electrocution Chomp.
Primary Weapon: Electric Spray
Available Upgrades
|

Power Chomper is in the running for best close-range fighter in all of Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare. He discharges several bolts of electricity from his jaws at lightning speeds, all of which hit fast and do huge amounts of damage in-close. Get right up next to zombies and use the Electric Spray on any ones you don’t want to take the time to Chomp!
Count Chompula

Count Chompula is very, very hungry. He’s always looking for a zombie feast. He regains health for every zombie he swallows.
Primary Weapon: Vampiric Chomp
Available Upgrades
|

Count Chompula has a power that’s just as neat as the Hot Rod’s—gulp a zombie down and regain a HUGE amount of health. This allows Chompula to be a valuable asset even when low on health, as he can Burrow near an enemy, regain some vitality, and literally live to fight another day. Almost ironically, this means he works best when he’s on the ropes—there’s little point in gulping zombies down when you’re already near full health. Stay hungry!
