Sniper Rifles

If you prefer engaging enemies at extreme distances, the sniper rifles are the choice for you. These are the most powerful and accurate weapons available, but they also require the most skill and patience to master, given their slow rate of fire and lengthy reload speeds. Sniper rifles are only available to the recon kit.

CS_LR4

This highly ergonomic Chinese bolt action sniper rifle features a composite thumb-hole stock with an adjustable cheek piece. As the first sniper rifle available, the weapon comes equipped with the CL6X (6X) optic, the Variable Zoom (14X), and a Bipod. These attachments should help any shooter get acquainted with the fundamentals of sniping and scope zeroing. Another all around weapon, as the starting weapon it’s easy to master with a good muzzle velocity and a medium bolt action speed.

M40A5

Developed around the bolt-action of a proven American hunting rifle, the M40A5 has been upgraded with a lightened fiberglass stock, a detachable magazine, and the provisions for mounting various attachments. An incredibly accurate rifle, the M40A5 currently serves as the primary Sniper Rifle for the USMC. The M40A5 is by default equipped with a Rifle Scope (8x). This weapon is slightly faster to fire multiple rounds, with a quick bolt action. However, it has lower muzzle velocity making long range shots more difficult.

Scout Elite

Developed in Austria, the Scout Elite has gained favor among SWAT and counter-terrorist teams throughout the world thanks to its accuracy and relative compact size. But a shorter barrel length and smaller cartridge translates into less stopping power and shorter effective range than its counterparts. By default the rifle comes equipped with a Rifle Scope (8X). The Scout Elite makes up for its small round count and low range by being the very fastest weapon rate of fire sniper rifle, with a high muzzle velocity and mobility.

SV-98

Similar to its Western counterparts, the SV-98 began life as a proven bolt-action sporting rifle. The SV-98 is equipped with a 10-round detachable box magazine, several attachment points, and backup ironsights. The SV-98 is standardly equipped with a PKS-07 (7x) for very long-range shooting. A good all around weapon, the SV98 has good muzzle velocity and a medium speed bolt action.

JNG-90

Easily identified by its massive muzzle brake, the JNG-90 serves as the standard sniper rifle of the Turkish army. This modern rifle has integral rail systems and many other accessory options, making it adaptable to shifting situations. It provides the shooter great stopping power, as well as sub minute of angle accuracy. This weapon has the best bullet speed of all the 7.62mm rifles, but it has the slowest bolt action speed of the group as well.

338-Recon

Firing the high-velocity .338 Magnum round, the 338-Recon delivers devastating stopping power with pinpoint accuracy. While its bullpup design is unusual for a sniper rifle, its precision and relative compact size have made the 338-Recon a favorite among US SOCOM units. The rifle comes equipped with a Rifle Scope (8X). When compared to the M98B this weapon is more mobile, and has a faster bolt action than the M98B, but a lower muzzle velocity.

M98B

A precision tactical rifle, the M98B was uniquely developed from the ground up as a bolt-action sniper rifle. Firing the .338 Magnum round from a detachable box magazine, the M98B is capable of impressive accuracy and great stopping power even at extreme ranges. The M98B is currently being evaluated by US SOCOM in a modified form. The M98B comes equipped with a Rifle Scope (8x). A great long range rifle due to the high damage of the round, but the bolt action is the slowest of all rifles.

SRR-61

Firing the specialized .408 CT round, the SRR-61 is capable of lethal precision well beyond 1,000 meters. By default the rifle comes equipped with a Rifle Scope (8x). But SRR-61 doesn’t realize its full potential until equipped with Ballistic (40X) scope and a Range Finder, allowing it to take down threats at extreme ranges. Very similar to the M98B, but with a higher velocity bullet this is the best long range rifle. It has a similar slow bolt action and a lower magazine size than the M98B.

FY-JS

The Chinese FY-JS shares much in common with the Scout Elite, offering great accuracy but less stopping power and a reduced effective range than many of the other sniper rifles. This makes it most effective when sniping within relatively confined locations. The included CL6X (6X) scope is decent, but consider going with the JGM-4 (4X) scope when operating in urban environments. This weapon is very fast to chamber rounds, but the smaller bullets it fires does less damage at long range. It is are also very mobile, being better to shoot from the hip, and faster to be accurate when zoomed.
