Carbines

Carbines bridge the gap between assault rifles and PDWs, ideal for a variety of combat situations. Their compact design makes them easy to maneuver in tight quarters. The shorter barrel length means less muzzle velocity, accuracy, and range than their assault rifle counterparts. But they still have the stopping power to take down opponents quickly. The best part—carbines are now available to all classes, allowing for greater versatility among the kits.

Fundamentals

• The carbines are available to all classes and best deployed at close-to-intermediate ranges; small enough to peek around corners.
• Although similar, carbines have less stopping power than assault rifles, especially beyond 50 meters.
• The 1X optics are more than sufficient when operating a carbine, particularly when equipped with the Magnifier (2X) accessory.
• If you need greater precision out of your carbine, attach a Heavy Barrel. Just be ready to compensate for the heavier recoil.
• The recon class gains greater flexibility when equipping a carbine. Attach a suppressor for a stealthy loadout.

AK5-C

The AK5-C is the carbine variant of the AK5 assault rifle deployed by Swedish Armed Forces. Along with a reduced barrel length and overall weight, the AK5-C also benefits from the addition of attachment rails, an adjustable buttstock, and several ergonomic features designed to enhance ease of use and weapon maneuverability in close quarters.

ACW-R

This adaptive combat rifle features a number of recent rifle designs and acts as a lightweight, feature heavy, rifle platform. Built to endure rough weather conditions and capable of utilizing standard STANAG magazines, this rifle is equipped to fill many of the roles required by both military and law enforcement uses.

A carbine variant of the Swiss Armyʹ’s standard SG550 rifle, the SG553 improves over its predecessor, the well-known SG552, by including integrated rails for mounting accessories. A carbine with excellent ergonomics, the SG553 is capable of automatic, three-round burst, and semi-automatic fire and is an excellent close-range weapon.

AKU-12

The Russian AKU-12 is a compact variant of the AK-12 assault rifle and is the successor to the aging AKS-74U. Like its assault rifle cousin, the AKU-12 benefits from lightweight composite construction and a host of improvements, including a folding buttstock, integrated rail systems, and dampened recoil.

An unusual weapon, even by Russian standards, the A-91 is a bullpup carbine chambered in the 5.56mm WP round instead of a standard NATO caliber. Made from polymers, it features a forward shell ejection system that keeps shells well clear of the shooter’s face upon ejection.

ACE 52 CQB

• Ammo: 7.62x51mm NATO

Yet another firearm from the ACE family, the ACE 52 CQB is a shortened version, but fires the 7.62mm NATO round, giving the weapon plenty of stopping power. But the larger, heavier round translates into heavier recoil and a reduced magazine capacity. Attach an Angled Grip and Compensator to help bring the weapon under control.

A compact version of the German Armyʹ’s full-size G36 rifle, the G36C is equipped with a number of rails for accessories and a set of backup ironsights, instead of the integrated optics and carry handle of the G36. Its great ergonomics and short length make it excellent in short-range encounters. The G36C also includes a two-round burst mode.

Essentially a shortened version of the M16, the M4 carbine traces its roots to the Vietnam War. Since then, the carbine has seen heavy use at the frontlines of Iraq and Afghanistan in close quarters and urban environments. The M4 is only capable of semi-auto and burst fire. It also features a quad rail, useful for equipping a large number of accessories.

ACE 21 CQB

The ACE 21 is the smaller cousin to the ACE 52 CQB. Chambered in the smaller, lighter 5.56mm NATO round, the weapon offers greater stability due to reduced recoil, despite a higher rate of fire. But this comes at a cost of less stopping power, requiring more hits on-target to neutralize a threat.

The Chinese Type-95B-1 is the carbine variant of the standard-issue QBZ-95 rifle deployed by the People’s Liberation Army. Benefitting from a shortened barrel and bullpup configuration, this carbine is very effective in close-quarter environments, whether aiming down sights or firing from the hip. Improve its close-quarter performance by attaching a Laser Sight and Compensator.
