Offensive Scouting Report

  • QB Nick Foles is no longer in Philly, and taking over is former #1 pick Sam Bradford. Bradford should be a good fit for the Eagles because he has solid accuracy and should be protected from injury with quick throws and a solid offensive line.
  • The Eagles’ backfield is completely different from last season, and somehow it got even better! HB DeMarco Murray is an excellent runner who should pick up right where HB LeSean McCoy left off. Make sure to get Darren Sproles and Ryan Mathews involved, because they are both talented in their own ways.
  • The Eagles also had an overhaul at the WR position after Jeremy Maclin left during free agency. Look to build rookie WR Nelson Agholor to take over his role. Jordan Matthews should continue to improve after a promising rookie season.

Defensive Scouting Report

  • Fletcher Cox has developed into a dominant player along the defensive line and is a perfect scheme fit for the Eagles. While the rest of the line is solid, continue to develop their strength to help support the LBs in the run game.
  • The LB corps had tremendous play last season from Connor Barwin, who developed into an excellent pass rusher. In the MLB spot, Mychal Kendricks showed he had the skills go with his raw ability and turned into the player many fans had been waiting to see.
  • The Eagles went big at CB by bringing in excellent zone defender Byron Maxwell, who has great size. He will fit in nicely with FS Malcolm Jenkins, who will need to lead the secondary and bring up the rest of the young talent.

Schedule

Key Players

  • Continue to work on Murray’s Carry and Catch ratings; both are solid but can always be improved.
  • Murray can do it all in the open field — expect him to break tackles with both trucking and elusiveness.
  • Cox is a rare player who can rush the passer as a 3-4 end, but work on his strength in the run game.
  • Cox should be in the game on all passing downs. Sub him in at DT when you go to passing defenses.
  • Agholor will be a starter early in his career
  • for the Eagles, especially with all their shotgun formations.
  • Get the ball to Agholor on screen passes and quick throws and let his speed and agility do the work.
  • Rowe has balanced ratings in both man and
  • zone, so consider what type of scheme you want to build and start upgrading one over the other.
  • He is solid in press coverage, so consider starting him on the outside against smaller WRs.

Best Offensive Plays

BEST RUN: Gun Wing Trips Eagle Wk — 0 1 Trap

Setup:

  • The 0 1 Trap is a consistent run that you should feel confident in before the snap. If the defense shows blitz, audible out.
  • The other runs in this formation contain “auto-motion,” so make sure to build a scheme that fools the defense. Otherwise they can key in.

Advanced Setup:

  • Motion the TE left.

MAN COVERAGE ZONE COVERAGE MAN BLITZ ZONE BLITZ

BEST PASS: Gun Flip Trips Eagle — Eagles HB Angle

Setup/Reads:

  • Against zone coverage, the combination of routes across the middle will be too tough for one defender to cover.
  • Against man coverage wait for the angle to cut across the middle. Murray is an outstanding pass catcher, and no LB can hang with him in space.
  • This is a play that can pick up big chunks in a hurry, but try the Slot Trail if you’re looking for something more consistent.

Advanced Setup:

  • Slant the WR on an out.

Best Defensive Plays

BEST RUN DEFENSE: 3-4 Solid — Trio Sky Zone

Setup:

  • Work this formation to get your fastest LB blitzing on the play. This should lead to him meeting the HB in the backfield on many plays.
  • Shifting your LBs will allow you to call this play against most offensive formations, even if they bring in extra TEs.

Player to Control:

  • Either LB on the left of the screen

MAN COVERAGE ZONE COVERAGE MAN BLITZ ZONE BLITZ

BEST PASS DEFENSE: Nickel 2-4-5 DBL A Gap — Nickel Dog Meg

Setup:

  • Your opponent will think the short middle is open, but if they target you there the QB spy should make a play on the ball.
  • If your opponent is still hitting you over the middle, switch to the Nickel Dog 3 Buzz to get some extra defenders to the area.
  • If you really want to ramp up the pressure on third and long, globally blitz your LBs.

Player to Control:

  • Blitzing CB on a QB spy
