Cornerbacks have an all-new value in Madden NFL 16 because now they can become playmakers and knock the ball away from receivers. An elite CB who can take away a number one WR on his own will make your entire defense better. Look for players who have a high Man Coverage or Zone Coverage rating depending on what style you want to play. Interceptions should be on the rise this season, and finding a CB who can get into position will be a big bonus.
Patrick Peterson
Style: Man Defense
Patrick Peterson is one of the most athletic CBs in the game, and he has the size to match up with nearly any receiver. Players who like to play man defense can look for him to be a lockdown player. If you like to mix it up a bit more, go with the more balanced but smaller Joe Haden.
Chris Harris
Style: Pass Rush
Harris is the perfect option to match up against smaller receivers who try to use great route running to get open. If you place Harris in the slot on man coverage, he will completely lock down any quick passes over the middle and frustrate your opponent.
Vontae Davis
Style: Run Stuff
Davis is one of the most physical secondary players in Ultimate Team. While he isn’t enormous, his ability to press receivers at the line lets him match up with bigger players. His Man Coverage rating will have him knocking passes out of receivers’ hands all game.
Richard Sherman
Style: Man Defense
Sherman is always one of the most popular players in MUT because of his ability to stop bigger WRs from catching balls downfield. He often turns into a playmaker of his own and can even turn defense into offense with interceptions.
Darrelle Revis
Style: Zone Defense
Revis is extremely balanced and can play nearly any type of coverage for your defense. Take advantage of his ability to get up at the line and slow down receivers. Mix in plenty of man coverage to get your value.
