Top 5 Defensive Linemen Items in MUT

Defensive linemen are often overlooked in MUT, but their ability to get pressure on the QB can make defending the passing game so much easier. Keep an eye out for players who have the strength and block shedding to stop the run, as they can be tough to find. While most players have one skill, the best of the best are all-around forces that the offense must pay attention to on every snap.

Gerald McCoy (DT)

Style: Man Defense

Gerald McCoy is prototypical 4-3 defensive tackle who has enough strength to stop the run but also can get after the passer. These types of players are extremely rare, so hang onto them and understand their value. McCoy is so good that he can even play in a 3-4 defense if needed.

Robert Quinn (RE)

Style: Run Stuff

Quinn has a rare combination of size and power that allows him to attack any tackle in the game. He is capable of bringing down not only QBs with his great pursuit, but also ball carriers. Make sure to keep Quinn in a 4-3, where he will really excel at rushing off the edge.

Cameron Wake (LE)

Style: Run Stuff

Cameron Wake is perfect for 4-3 teams that want to get after the passer all game long. Wake has an array of pass moves and can even slide inside and still get pressure on passing downs. Try switching up his assignments to take advantage of his elite athletic ability.

Ndamukong Suh (DT)

Style: Zone Defense

Suh is an ideal defensive tackle in the 4-3 and will easily clog up rushing lanes. Where he becomes a nightmare for the offense is on third and long, where he can use his elite pass-rushing moves to get after the QB. Suh will consistently destroy even elite interior linemen.

J.J. Watt (LE)

Style: Pass Rush

Watt is hands down the best defensive item in Ultimate Team due to his ability to play any position on the defensive line. Watt can terrorize defenses from a 3-4 or 4-3 look and has the quickness to get pressure from the inside or the outside. He is a great run stopper and can even score off turnovers.
