Offensive Scouting Report

• QB Joe Flacco nearly led the Ravens to a playoff upset in Foxborough last season. Expect nothing less than another solid season, where he will look to build on that 27/12 touchdown/interception ratio. The Ravens’ offensive line should give Flacco plenty of time to look downfield this year.
• HB Justin Forsett proved that he deserves not only the starting spot in Baltimore but also a new contract. Even if Forsett can repeat his success, start building some more options at the backup spot.
• WR Steve Smith showed he still had some gas left in the tank with another solid season. Develop some young talent at the receiving corps to replace the veteran in a few seasons.

Defensive Scouting Report

• Finding a solid player like Brandon Williams at DT allowed the Ravens to get younger and save money on veterans like Haloti Ngata and Terrance Cody. Those players were excellent, so keep developing Williams.
• The Ravens have had some fresh talent injected in their LB corps over the last few seasons. Keep getting whatever is left from Terrell Suggs and Daryl Smith, but never bet against them.
• Jimmy Smith is a physical press corner who can excel in any scheme. On the other side, Lardarius Webb is a good man-to-man CB who lacks the ability to play all-out press coverage. Note your matchups and keep Smith lined up vs any star wideouts.

Key Players

• Touch up Flacco’s Play Action and Throw On Run ratings with some XP.
• There is nothing flashy about Joe Flacco; he just makes every throw out there.

• Smith has quickly become one of the Ravens’ best defenders. Continue to upgrade his Play Recognition rating to make him one of the league’s best.
• Smith should be able to go up with nearly any WR and knock the ball out.

• Don’t try to replace Torrey Smith — let Perriman develop into his own role.
• The combination of speed with Flacco’s throwing power should be excellent.

• There is always a place in the lineup for 90 Hit Power, even if it means special teams.
• Elam looked to be a promising talent, so don’t give up on him even if means you must user-control him.

Setup:

• You can sub in a better blocking TE at the inside WR position if you want to cut the run outside more.
• There are lots of great rollout plays built off this handoff fake, so make sure to set it up early.

• Motion the far inside slot WR on the left

Setup/Reads:

• Against zone coverage wait for the drag to clear the LBs and then catch it and run (RAC). This formation has many great flood concepts.
• Against man-to-man coverage the route running of the trail route should create some separation on the cut.
• This play will only be a success if you sub in Steve Smith to go over the middle and Perriman to go deep on the outside.

Advanced Setup:

• Wheel or flat the HB.

Setup:

• Blitzing a quick LB off the right edge is a great way to pick up some tackles in the backfield.
• Make sure Suggs is the LB on the opposite side of the blitzer, since he doesn’t need much support behind him.

BEST PASS DEFENSE: Nickel 3-3-5 — Cover 4 Drop

Setup:

• The Cover 4 Drop is actually a very tough defense to move the ball against, especially if you tackle well.
• Shading your coverage underneath will give your defenders an extra step towards breaking in and knocking down a pass.
• The combinations of rushers and blitzers off of this play are nearly unlimited, so don’t be afraid to send some heat on third down.
