General Strategy
The speed-run style is perfect for a player who prefers to run outside the tackles and can make moves in the open field. While you won’t have the consistency of a ground-and-pound attack, you can break off big runs that will frustrate opponents who can’t contain you. Consider getting the QB involved in the run game, and look for a halfback who not only has an elusive style but can catch out of the backfield.

Key Ratings
- Speed and Elusiveness (HB), Run Blocking and Impact Blocking (OL/TE), Acceleration and Play Action (QB)
Strengths
- This play style requires an extra TE or WRs with decent run blocking to hold up on the edge.
- Focus on finding faster offensive linemen with great impact blocking to block defenders in motion.
- Running formations extend to shotgun and pistol, allowing you to spread out defenses.
Weaknesses
- Learning to beat a tackler in the open field is important to maximize this offensive style.
- Players must learn to abandon the edge and just pick up a minimal gain rather than losing yards on certain plays.
- Players must commit to running the ball on second and long and can’t abandon the run game early.
