General Strategy
Man coverage is extremely improved in Madden NFL 16 with all of the new interaction that takes place in the secondary. With many players learning how to attack zone coverage, this can be an excellent style to really cause frustration for your opponent. Stick with this style early and often and your opponents will have to work to beat it all game long and prove to you they can do it consistently. It also allows you to make adjustments to slow down their favorite targets, such as corner routes. By mixing in press and some zone from time to time, man defense can be a great way to rack up wins this season.

Strengths
- Start with Cover 2 Man and test your opponent’s ability to beat it. Keep an eye on the TE position especially.
- Cover 1 allows a safety to get up in the box if your CB proves he can hold his own on the outside.
- If his coverage assignment stays in to block, a great MLB can drop into coverage and clog up passing lanes.
Weaknesses
- Make sure to add a QB spy or contain your DEs if facing a mobile QB.
- If a WR has excellent route running, he can find a way to get separation on cuts, and you may need to add a zone to help.
- Blitzing without any safety help (Cover 0) can be perfect if timed correctly, but it shouldn’t be an every-down play call.
