Allocate Your Praxis!

Before you do anything else, open the in-game menu and scroll to Augmentations. You start with 13 Praxis points. Allocate them all, giving yourself a mix of augmentations based on your favorite style of play. Our suggestions are as follows:

  • Start with the Cybernetic Leg Prosthesis and add the Leg Silencers.
  • Add the Icarus Landing augmentation so you can leap safely to the ground from heights.
  • Select Cybernetic Arm Prosthesis and add the Punch Through Wall and the Optimized Musculature upgrades. You’ll encounter several structural weaknesses that you can punch open; you also want the ability to move heavy objects to uncover vents and create passages.
  • Upgrade your Hacking Capture to LV.3 to hack level 3 security. systems.
  • You need the experimental Icarus Dash and the Charged Dash upgrade to reach the three hidden Praxis Kits--two in the Blade Plaza area and one in the Blade airshaft.
  • Also consider adding the experimental Remote Hacking augmentation so you can hack electronic devices from a distance. This ability can be very useful in the latter stages of System Rift, especially if you spend another Praxis point on its Security Domination upgrade.
  • After that, spend any remaining Praxis points on augmentations that suit your favorite style of play. Our walkthrough is stealth oriented, so we prefer stealth-enhancing abilities such as Glass-Shield Cloaking to move invisibly past guards; Smart Vision (plus the Magpie upgrade so you can scan for useful items); Vision Feedback (under Wayfinder Radar System) to see which way enemies/cameras are looking; or any of the Hacking enhancements. But again, make choices that suit your own style.
  • Later, after you infiltrate the Palisade Blade facility and pick up more Praxis Kits, add the Turret Domination upgrade in the Hacking Capture augmentation tree. (This will help a lot in the final phases.) It’s also a good idea to buy the Implanted Rebreather. One corridor of the building is filled with a toxic fog, but conceals a valuable collectible item.

Exit the Metro Station

You start out on the train platform of the Blade Plaza Station. If you want, you can just climb the stairs to exit the station, and then head to the Zátopek bar. But almost every nook and cranny of Deus Ex Mankind Divided features hidden or hard-to-access rooms filled with useful loot. This Metro station is like a microcosm of the larger game. Let’s explore it to find some of its bounty.

Optional: Loot the Metro Station Security Office

From the start, climb the exit stairs and turn left into the small corridor at the top. Open the door to the Ticketing Office on the right and step inside. Here you can press the EG Switch just behind the door to lower metal shutters over the windows for privacy, if you want.

Loot the office to find the sticky-note next to the doorway[md]it has the code “1346” written on it. Aha! (You can also try to hack the Alarm Panel on the wall and then deactivate the alarm, but it’s not necessary if you follow this nonviolent path.) Exit the office, turn right, and enter the four-digit code on the keypad to unlock the door marked Authorized Personnel Only.

Move through the maintenance area (grabbing the Crafting Parts on the crate) and enter the unmarked Security Office. Here you can loot a number of useful items, including a spare Biocell in a locker and a Weapons Briefcase holding a 10mm Pistol and Pistol EMP ammo. You can also access a laptop on the desk to disable the Intruder Tracking function on the station platform’s security camera, if you want. (Again, this isn’t necessary if you don’t get violent during your exit.)

Exit the Station

Exit the Security Office and return to the Metro’s main corridor. Turn left and use the Augs chute to pass through the turnstile exit (to avoid an annoying ID check by the station guard), then exit the Metro station.

Optional: Snag Two Praxis Kits!

After you climb the Metro Station stairs to street level, turn right and head into the alcove. Approach the small fountain (circled in our shot) against the back wall. Look in the basin to find a nice mission-opening present.

Now climb atop the glass canopy over the Metro Station entrance and stand at the front left corner, facing the building with Písek on the ground floor and two red-white-and-blue flag banners hanging in front. Use a Charged Dash to reach the wide ledge just behind the flags and find another kit.

Find Slaw in the Zátopek Bar

Follow the Objective Locator to the alley entrance marked “Naturals Only” off Klímová Street. Zátopek is tucked just down this alley, but a crew of hostile Anti-Aug Extremists refuses to let you pass. You could gun them down, which seems awfully harsh, or use your Stun Gun on them. But you’d end up in a full gunfight and attract the police, including a brutal Police Exo-Suit. Another option is available: After you choose Back Off, you could activate Glass-Shield Cloaking to sneak past the Extremists into the bar. But you may not have that capability yet...and, as always, there’s another sneaky way in.

The Rewards of Exploration

Some doors on Klímová Street are inaccessible, but some are open, while others are locked but can be hacked open. Check out any building or room you can enter for pickup items.

For example, inside the Piomboybtzo Restaurant, you can find an E-Book on a table in the dining room along with a Hypostim Injector inside a Medical Box on the bar (behind the concrete pillar).

Climb down the ladder near the Josiane wine shop to find a sewer-like alley filled with standing water electrified by a nearby malfunctioning generator. You can make a painful sprint to the generator and hit its Breaker switch to turn off the juice. Or you can reach the switch using a pair of plastic crates, placing them in tandem down the alley while jumping from crate to crate to avoid the electric current. Continue into the alcove where a homeless woman sleeps in her makeshift den; find the E-Book next to her.

Check the cellar of the Josiane wine shop for another E-Book plus a Stun Gun and its ammo in a hidden nook (behind the stacked refrigerators). Behind the barrels in a storage room is a vent that leads to the electrified sewer. Just left of the closed Kafka Nightclub, jump onto the red awning above the bicycle, hop to the balcony, and enter the studio apartment door. Loot the place for Painkillers and a Biocell, then read the Pocket Secretary to learn that the occupant's name is Edmund, an Aug-in-hiding. Move the refrigerator (Optimized Musculature is required) to find another Biocell and a Praxis Kit.

Bypass the Anti-Aug Alley Via Climbing

After the confrontation with the Extremists, climb atop the police van parked in the street. Although this sets off its car alarm, you can either disable it beforehand (if you have the Remote Hacking ability) or just move quickly before the police arrive. Leap from the van’s back end over to the ladder on the Oko Rachka building.

Climb the ladder and walk out onto the translucent canopy of the Moodex billboard. (It has a graphic of a falling man.) Jump from there to the opposite ledge above the Piomboybtzo Restaurant. If you have the Icarus Dash and Charged Dash upgrades, look up to spot the balcony. Use Charged Dash to vault onto the balcony. Grab the Praxis Kit on the window sill and drop back down to the ledge.

Sneak Inside the Bar

Creep to the mesh canopy’s far edge overlooking the sniper on a scaffolding platform just below. Zap her unconscious with your Stun Gun, then jump down onto her platform. (Be sure to pick up her Sniper Rifle if you want it.) Climb down the ladder to the ground and open the vent cover just across the alley. Jump inside the vent and follow the duct to the Zátopek bar. You drop directly in front of the basement door. Open it to trigger a cutscene: Jensen finds Pavel “Slaw” Hubnik.

We’ll go back for the stash shortly. For now, climb down the scaffold’s ladder to the ground and open the vent cover just across the alley. Jump inside the vent and follow the duct into the Zátopek bar. You drop directly in front of the basement door. Open it to trigger a cutscene: Jensen finds Pavel “Slaw” Hubnik.

Listen to Slaw’s Story

Slaw says the job is too dangerous for him; he’s backed out of Pritchard’s planned break-in at the Palisade Blade, a secure data archiving center, to acquire info on The Santeau Group. He gives Jensen a Pass-Port/VPN key for use at the Blade facility; unfortunately, the pass is “flagged” as missing, and must be reprogrammed before it will work. Before you leave, search the small utility room to find a Multi-Tool stashed in a case. You can also find a Tactical Shotgun behind the bar.

Optional: Loot the Secret Stash in Bogna’s Apartment

When you’re ready to go, just retrace the exact route you took to get in: through the duct, sneak up the scaffold ladder (watch out for patrolling Anti-Augs), jump to the mesh canopy, hop back onto the balcony, and then enter Bogna’s apartment. Activate Smart Vision (if available) to locate a secret door next to the refrigerator.

Use the Terminal on the wall next to the bed and enter the passcode you acquired, 1205, and select Open. Go into the secret room to find a mini-armory, including a pair of Weapon Cabinets, stuffed full and ready for plundering. (Grab that Tranquilizer Rifle if you’re a fan of stealth play!) Loot the lockers as well, then jump atop them and open the Weapons Briefcase on the high shelf. Finally, read the E-Book. Toggle open the roller shutters by the lockers then open the window behind them. Hop out onto the Moodex billboard canopy and climb down to the street.

Optional: Before You Visit the Konverz Kafé...

If you break into Apartment 3B in the Klímová Apartments complex before you talk to Pritchard in the Konverz Kafé, the resident will not be home yet. This gives you the opportunity to score some good loot, including a Praxis Kit. First, hack into the apartment building’s stairwell then head upstairs and hack into Apartment 3B. Enter the bedroom, raise the painting next to the closet, hack the Terminal behind it, and select Unlock.

Open the newly unlocked door inside the closet to enter a secret room where you can find a number of items, including an E-Book and a Praxis Kit. Note that if you talk to Pritchard in the café before you visit this apartment, you trigger a cinematic meeting with ShadowChild when you hack into this secret room. After the meeting, she locks you out, and you never get the chance to grab these items.

Optional: Talk to Niko Saridakis

On your way to the Klímová Apartments to visit ShadowChild after meeting Pritchard’s hologram in the Konverz Kafé, approach the man standing on the stairs that lead up to the Palisade Blade’s main entrance. This triggers a cutscene: Jensen talks to the man, Niko Saridakis. Ask Niko all questions to get the story of his wife Simona’s death. This conversation plus your upcoming meeting with ShadowChild will add a secondary task to your Objectives list that you can pursue once you get inside the Blade.

When you’re ready to go, just retrace the exact route you took to get in: through the duct, up the scaffold ladder, jump to the mesh canopy, climb into the secret room of the apartment, open the opposite roller shutters and window, hop across onto the Moodex billboard canopy, then climb down the ladder to the street.

Get into Konverz Kafé

Follow the Objective Locator down the street between the Metro entrance and the Palisade Blade building to find the Konverz Kafé with a big “Opening Soon” sign out front. The front and back doors are both locked and you can try hacking the Keypad on either one. Or you can head up the side stairs, move the garbage bin, pull open the vent cover, then crouch and follow the duct to the “Destructible Vent.” Strike it to drop into the entry lobby of the café. Next, head downstairs to café’s main room in the basement.

Activate the Holographics System

Grab the Multi-tool sitting on a reel of cable against the wall near the bottom of the stairs. Then open the sliding door and enter the core station. Use the main power breaker on the wall to activate the holographic system.

This triggers a cutscene: Pritchard reveals more about the job. If you ask him about “Deaths?” he brings up Simona Saridakis. Later, he sends Jensen off to meet a legendary hacker code-named “ShadowChild” for help in reprogramming the flagged Pass-Port.

Go to ShadowChild's Apartment

Follow the Objective Locator to the Klímová Apartments building. (Tip: Try hacking into the locked Mini Storage Door directly across the plaza to find lockers full of weaponry.) Enter via the front doors, snag the Overclock Software on the lobby desk, then head upstairs to Apartment 3A. Hack the Keypad next to the door and enter the apartment. Jensen sees nobody and reports this to Pritchard, who insists ShadowChild is online and must be there.

Find ShadowChild

Explore the apartment. Hack the laptop on the living room desk to get a door code: 8222. Grab the Hypostim Injector in the bathroom, stashed in a drawer underneath the sink. Search the bedroom for items and then open the last painting on the bedroom wall to find a Terminal. Enter the code 8222 and select Unlock. Next, open the door inside the closet to the left to trigger a cutscene: Jensen meets ShadowChild.

After ShadowChild completes the task for Jensen, she gives him a “Level-09 Pass-Port.” Talk to her to learn about Rippers and Masaaki Oshiro. You can also learn that Slaw and Pritchard added malware to the Pass-Port. When the dialog selection “Help how?” appears, be sure to select it; ShadowChild reveals a possible inside contact[md]with the Ripper handle “Baba-yaga 50”[md]who can help Jensen infiltrate the Blade server chambers. Finally, you can respond to a personal request: ShadowChild asks Jensen to place a figurine on the desk of Leona Rosolova, head of Palisades engineering, inside the bank.
