LEGO CITY Undercover eGuide Walkthrough

Chapter 4: When the Going Gets Tough...

Chase didn’t find Clarence “Stinky” Fletcher inside the Bluebell Mine—only a voice recording that Stinky made. The recording reveals that Stinky was captured by Rex Fury’s goons, and upon leaving the mine, Chase encounters none other than Rex Fury himself! Unfortunately, Rex proves too strong for Chase to handle, and the villain flees after knocking McCain for a loop.

City Exploration

Objective: Visit the Temple Dojo

If Chase is going to stand a chance against Rex Fury, he’ll need to hone his fighting skills. Sheriff Huckleberry suggests that Chase learn kung fu and hands McCain a brochure for a nearby dojo. Good idea! Hop into the nearby police vehicle and speed off.

Unfortunately, the bridge that leads to the temple is out. You’ll need to construct a superbuild to repair it. A whopping 30,000 bricks are required to build the Serenity Bridge, so you’d better start searching for superbricks! Fire up Data Scan mode and use the GamePad to scan your surroundings in search of the following superbricks.

Large Superbrick 1

You can find several small superbricks by smashing piles of boulders near the campsite across the street, but large superbricks are far more valuable. The first large superbrick sits atop a rock formation near the campsite. To reach it, smash the pile of boulders near the cliff to discover some bricks that you can build into a large, rolling boulder.

Press to jump onto the boulder, then ride it over to the indicated spot near the rock formation. Now you can jump onto the rock formation!

Run around one side of the rock formation to claim a small superbrick. Next, slide down the rock formation to snag the large superbrick.

Large Superbrick 2

This superbrick is located in a nearby shack. Pry open the shack’s door with the crowbar to enter and collect the superbrick.

Large Superbrick 3

This superbrick sits atop the same small shack. Smash the boulders near the shack to discover some bricks, then build the bricks into a trampoline. Bounce onto the shack’s roof and collect the superbrick.

Large Superbrick 4

Cross the street and smash the objects around the patio of the restaurant near the waterfall. You’ll discover small superbricks in some objects. The green bin near the blue Dumpster contains a large superbrick!

Building the Bridge

You should now have plenty of bricks. Follow your objective marker back to the superbuild and spend 30,000 bricks to construct the temple bridge. Great! Now sprint across and head up to the temple dojo.

LEGO City Hero Stud Requirement:

42,800

Objective: Enter the Dojo

You’ve reached the temple courtyard, but the dojo is locked tight. Looks like you’ll need a key to get inside.

The key is in plain sight, held by the frozen hand of an ice sculpture. To claim the key, you must collect 40,000 bricks and build a dragon sculpture at the central superbuild pad. Lucky for you, there are several superbricks located around here!

Superbrick 1

Play and win the simple maze game to the left of the superbuild. Tilt the Wii U GamePad to roll the ball over to the bottom-right corner. The ball falls on a button, causing a firework to rise from the ground nearby.

Collect the firework and place it onto one of the four drums around the superbuild. The firework blasts off and the drum explodes, revealing a superbrick!

Superbrick 2

Smash the lion statue near the ice sculpture to discover a scan spot. Follow the footprints to a pile of leaves, then sweep them away to discover another firework.

Again, place the firework into another drum to set it off and discover another superbrick. This firework flies off-course and strikes a gong, destroying it and exposing some dynamite.

Police Shield Piece 1

Smash three more lion statues around the courtyard to discover LEGO bricks that you can build into “hat stands.” (They’re actually training dummies, but Chase doesn’t realize this at first.) Build all three “hat stands” to score a shield piece! Check the map to see where these three special lion statues lie (one is up on the roof).

Police Shield Piece 2

Shoot five red hanging ornaments around the courtyard to earn another shield piece. The ornaments are strung all around and are easy to miss, so hold to aim and fire at them. You can use the grapple gun to shoot them down.

Free Play

Vehicle Token 1: Roar

Smash the large pile of boulders on the courtyard’s right side to uncover a patch of shaky ground. Switch to the construction worker and drill here to dig up a vehicle token!

Superbrick 3

Collect the dynamite after setting off the second firework, then carry it over to the blue-capped poles in the foreground. Use the dynamite to blast the tallest pole.

The dynamite knocks the tall pole down to size. Now you can jump up the poles to reach the courtyard’s outer wall!

Pull down a ladder with the grappling gun, then climb to the dojo’s roof. Run across the roof, smashing the ornaments near other ladders to lower them as well. This makes it easier to return to the roof if you fall.

Smashing one of the roof’s ornaments causes a paper lantern to rise like a hot-air balloon. Grapple the lantern after it rises, and you’ll zip up to the balcony above.

Use the balcony’s dragon-shaped furnace to ignite a torch. This should come in handy!

Collect the torch, then run to the right and light a pair of spinning fireworks. Light both spinners to raise a case that contains a proper firework.

Carry the firework down to the ground level and place it in another drum. The firework blasts off, leaving a superbrick behind.

Character Token 1:Karate Master

Use another torch to light the large paper lantern in the courtyard’s left corner. The lantern floats away, leaving a character token behind!

Superbrick 4

Return to the dojo’s rooftop balcony and collect another torch from the furnace. This time, run to the left and use the torch to light a pair of lanterns. This raises another case, delivering the final firework.

You know what to do! Bring that firework down to the last drum and set it off to score the final superbrick. Now you can build the dragon statue!

Claiming the Key

Spend 40,000 bricks to build the dragon in the center of the temple grounds. The dragon breathes out a burst of fire that melts the ice sculpture. Great work! Now you can collect the key.

You’re all done here. Grab the key and use it to open the dojo’s front door. Time to learn some kung fu!

Objective: Learn Self-Defense

Master Barry isn’t around—you’ll need to get his attention. Collect the mallet from the far altar and whack the nearby gong.

Police Shield Piece 3

Before ringing the gong, water six blue planters around the dojo to receive a shield piece! Check the maps to see where the six planters sit.

Police Shield Piece 4

Use the transporter pad to beam up to the dojo’s balcony. Smash a crate on the balcony’s left side to discover some bricks that you can build into a trampoline.

Bounce off the trampoline to reach some high handholds. Flip from a flagpole to reach the background scaffolding, then climb a drainpipe.

The drainpipe leads to a color swapper. Use this to fill your color gun with gold energy.

Drop from the color swapper platform and blast the two background statues with the color gun to paint them both gold.

Drop to the dojo’s main floor and run to the foreground to discover two more statues. Blast these as well to receive this stage’s final shield piece!

Free Play

Character Token 2: Barry Smith

Beam back up to the dojo’s balcony and smash the ornate cabinets on the right to discover a small idol.

Collect the idol and drop to the dojo’s main floor. Place the idol on the indicated stand to open a secret nook that contains a character token.

Free Play

Vehicle Token 2: Hairdryer

Return to the dojo’s balcony and carefully drop off the foreground ledge to land on a lower balcony. Smash the red cabinet on the left to discover some dynamite.

Collect the dynamite and carry it down to the dojo’s main floor. Use the dynamite to destroy the silver wall on the left. There’s a vehicle token in the nook beyond!

Free Play

Red Brick: Super Throw

Beam up to the dojo’s balcony one final time. Drop to the lower balcony in the foreground and notice the four portraits of Chase in various disguises. These are vital clues!

Jump up the handholds to return to the upper balcony. There are four large crates here. The sides of each crate are painted with different action symbols—one for each disguise. Turn the valve wheels to spin the crates so that the action symbols match the disguise portraits on the lower foreground ledge. After you properly align all four crates, a red brick appears on the balcony!

Barry proves too much for Chase to handle and instructs McCain to train against his students instead. Press to perform quick throws against three students to pass the first test.

Press to counter the second group of students’ attacks. An icon appears above each student just before they strike, signaling that you can perform the counter.

During the third lesson, press to grab the students, then press to throw them. Hold to aim after grabbing a student, then release to throw the student into objects or other students!

Chase faces stronger students during the fourth lesson. These guys can’t be taken down with quick throws, and they resist your attempts to grab them. Rapidly tap to overpower these stronger foes, then use to throw them.

In the fifth and final lesson, put all of your training to work and defeat a whole group of students. Use quick throws and counters to defeat the ones in white, and overpower the stronger students in brown by tapping , then throw them.

Barry is impressed at your newfound fighting abilities and hands you a commemorative belt. Great work! You’ve unlocked Chase’s advanced combat skills.

City Exploration

Objective: Rescue Frank

As Chase strolls out of the temple dojo, self-confidence restored, he receives a call from Frank Honey. It seems that Frank has been kidnapped, along with LEGO City’s brand-new police truck! Fortunately, Frank is able to tell Chase where to find him. Commandeer a vehicle and speed off to the rescue!

You find the police truck near the shore, and Frank is indeed trapped inside. Unfortunately, a bunch of angry goons aren’t about to let you leave!

Put your newfound fighting skills to use as you battle the punks. Use normal quick throws against single enemies, and go for counters whenever possible. Be sure to slap on those handcuffs once you get the goons to the ground!

The shirtless bad guys are stronger and can be hard to take down. Press to grab and overpower them, then throw them with . Take that!

Objective: Return the Truck to Cherry Tree Hills

To rescue Frank, defeat all of the goons, along with the reinforcements that arrive. Now you’ve just got to return the police truck to Cherry Tree Hills in time for Mayor Gleeson’s big unveiling! You have only five minutes to reach your destination, so don’t dally.

Unfortunately, those goons aren’t about to let you get away so easily. They soon arrive in suped-up gang vehicles, intent on ramming you off the road. Do your best to stay on track as you hurry toward Cherry Tree Hills!
