Per the message the Harvest Goddess delivers in your dream, you need to think about more than serving others and restoring the lighthouse. It’s time to think about starting a family.
Getting Married
The first step in getting married is to decide which of the available bachelors or bachelorettes you want to get close to, and build their affection to four Musical Notes. Consult the Meet Your Neighbors chapter for tips, but keep in mind that the best ways to raise affection are by completing requests and giving gifts to other villagers every day.
Once you attain a four-note affection level and see a full set of romantic events with an eligible character of the opposite sex, the Harvest Goddess appears in your dreams to offer some guidance. In short, she alerts you to two additional requirements:
- You need the Large House upgrade.
- You must acquire the Blue Feather.
You wake like on any normal day after the dream. Make your way through the day, then head to sleep. This time you dream about the Blue Bird returning to Azure Rock at the beach.
Rowan greets you when you wake and tells you it’s a beautiful day and that you should visit Azure Rock at night. Go about your day and make sure to stay awake until 6:30 p.m., then head to the beach. There, the Blue Bird presents you with the Blue Feather. Oliver appears to explain the significance of the Blue Feather—it’s a symbol of trust and devotion. Give it to the character you wish to propose marriage to.
Once you make your decision on whom to marry, visit that character and select the option to propose to them. You’re free to say no for now and continue to build your affection with other characters, if you choose.
After the proposal is accepted, your fiancé likely suggests telling someone close to him/her. From there, you’re instructed to get a wedding dress and tuxedo made. That means talking to Melanie!
Visit Melanie the next day (other than Sunday) to tell her about your wedding. She’s really excited to make you a wedding dress and tuxedo, but needs 2x Great Cotton Candy Wool and 2x Great Silky Fur in order to complete the clothes. Gus is inspired too and offers to make Melanie a new sewing machine, so you need to bring 3x Orichalcum Ore along with the fur.
Deliver the 2x Great Cotton Candy Wool, 2x Great Silky Fur, and 3x Orichalcum Ore to Melanie as soon as you can. It takes exactly one week for her to complete the wedding attire.
Return to Gus’s Smithy one week later to collect the outfits from Melanie. She can’t wait to see you married in them and wants to know when the wedding will be. You and your fiancé decide the wedding will take place exactly one week from the day you get the clothing. Note the day of the week and continue going about your normal life on the island until your wedding day.
You wake on your wedding day to a cutscene with your fiancé, in which you greet each other in your dress and tux. Take a moment to feed your pets, then head to the wedding. The wedding takes place at Beacon Town Square, with Sam presiding over the ceremony.
After the wedding, you return home with your spouse (who now has five Musical Notes), ready to begin your life as a married couple. Your spouse largely sticks to their old routine, visiting their old home from time to time, but you often see them in your house, sleeping in your bed, walking around. Everyone in town continues to offer you their congratulations for days to come!
Having a Baby
Now that you’re married, it’s time to take the steps necessary to have a baby. That means ensuring you have the Giant House upgrade and the Crib. Provided you have a Crib in the Giant House before your wedding day, the wife becomes pregnant exactly thirty days from the day of the wedding. You needn’t do anything to make this happen, other than watch the ensuing cutscene as the couple discovers that they’re going to have a baby.
Thirty days after you learn of the pregnancy, another cutscene takes place in which the couple talks about the baby’s gender. This is your opportunity to pick whether you’d like to have a boy or girl, or leave it up to chance. The baby is born thirty days after the gender-selection cutscene.
The delivery day arrives sixty days after the pregnancy occurs. Jeanne and Carol arrive to assist in the baby’s birth. Carol provides you with 10x Baby Formula, a Rattle, and a Picture Book. As a parent, it’s up to you to feed it Baby Formula (or Creamy Baby Formula) every day and to play with it. The Harvest Sprites (and your spouse) take care of the child while you tend to your normal chores—having a baby doesn’t interfere with your workday at Beacon Town!

Your child grows up, with a different milestone occurring every thirty days, provided you continue to feed and care for it every day. Eventually, it becomes old enough to talk in complete sentences and to be read to. The child reaches its maximum maturity on its first birthday.
