Soleil

Soleil emerges from the Magentocrystal and lives with you on the farm. This Gem Sprite has several unique attributes that make a wonderful addition to the Special Edition of the game. For starters, Soleil is the opposite gender of the player character, enabling the Gem Sprite to serve as a bonus bachelor/bachelorette. Secondly, Soleil can be hired to work alongside you as a co-op character, controlled by a friend with a second controller.

Co-Op Play

Plug in a second controller and enlist the help of a friend to make those chores go faster—and gain some free seeds! To play cooperatively, interact with the Magentocrystal to hire Soleil. Though it’s possible to hire them for free, go ahead and spend a processed gemstone to give Soleil additional Stamina. The more valuable the gem, the more Stamina they gain!

Soleil can assist with most of your farming chores, including tilling the field, planting seeds, plus watering and fertilizing crops; anything harvested by Soleil is automatically sent to your Bag. Soleil can chop wood, break stone, fish, and mine. In fact, one of the best ways to employ a co-op partner with Soleil is in the mines, as they can quickly dig up nine squares and help locate the ladder that much faster!

The real magic of having Soleil assist you in your farming is their ability to plant a variety of seeds, randomly chosen from whatever Sam currently has available. As the player character moves about the map, Soleil automatically travels to your side, so you needn’t worry about anyone getting left behind.

Soleil can only be hired once per day, so make it count! Consider keeping a second controller on hand and hiring the Gem Sprite daily so you can plant a medley of free seeds.

Friendship Events

1. Rowan helps you name the Gem Sprite the day after they emerge from the Magentocrystal. Overjoyed upon receiving the name “Soleil,” everyone laughs about the misunderstanding with the Shipping Bin.

   

2. Return home in the evening to ask the Gem Sprite to accompany you to the beach. You’ll have a lot of fun together, and they’ll confesses to how much life has improved since you freed them from the Magentocrystal. Yet Soleil is somehow conflicted—and hiding a big secret.
